Quote…instead of plowing billions into the future knowing these large EVS will never make money, we are pivoting. That is a quote from Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley. And it’s quite admission.

Now that the bullying forces of the Obama and Biden administrations are gone…and now that the ‘eco-fever’ that so many of these dopes brought into is dissipating…

Now we are finally getting the CEOs of the major car companies admitting that trying to force-force- an electric vehicle market into existence via govt or corporate force…was a bad idea.

No kidding, it’s something that we -on the right- have been saying for decades, now.

But Farley’s admission this week was made against the backdrop of years and years of himself and other CEOs insisting that electric cars are the future, and so, by God- you’re going to buy one.

And Ford’s EV journey is particularly interesting, because they-have managed- to come up with some appealing electric vehicles…like the ford F150 Lightening

It’s not as if these are bad vehicles. But they cost so much more than the comparable gas-powered vehicle…and Jim Farley and ford have been admitting for years that they were losing 47-thousand dollars per vehicle…just to ‘make the vehicle’.

Honest to God: Ford’s business model for electric cars was- we will take a bath. An absolute bleeping bath. On everyone we make. We’ll have to sell it for 70-thousand dollars and even at that price…it will have cost us 120-thousand dollars to make…but…this is smart. This is going to pay off, eventually.

This is comparable to making a candy bar at a cost of 3 dollars a bar…. but only selling it for 1.50…and thinking that, well, the economics of this will make sense eventually.

No. It won’t. In what world of Bernie Sanders bull crap does that business model make sense eventually?

But that’s what ford has been doing-for years- with EVS. And you know that the story at GM and Stellantis and the other car companies were at least ‘similar’ to Ford’s. Every one of them has been losing money on every EV they’ve been making…and somehow…this was the ‘business model’ of the future.

Well, Ford’s execs finally gave up the farce this week…as they announced Monday, they will be taking a nearly 20-billion dollar write down on their EV business and going in a dramatically different direction.

A direction that finally makes sense: let’s make the gas-powered cars and hybrids that consumers want.

Yep. What a cluster-farce. Those of us on the right have seen this farce play out- every step of the way. We cataloged why and how this wasn’t going to work. We rightly -blasted-these car companies and CEOs for leaping into anything that the democrats would give them a govt subsidy for.

It was a move by corporate America that was way too typical and has destroyed other industries-like our health insurance industry:  big govt liberals who want to use the power of government to manipulate the masses and force us into only using, buying, believing in their pre-approved choices….do this all the time: we will offer corporate America a bribe to go along with us and eff over the American people.

And way, way, way too many corporations happily do it. Ford, GM, and every other car company was only happy to leap at the govt subsidies and the promise of more customers who will be paying more for your cars…

And so Jim Farley and his crowd cannot -and should not-be commended for finally pivoting away from EVs and admitting reality. It’s how the Obama-era democrats got the insurance industry to put all of its smaller players out of business in favor of five or six big behemoth health insurers: the Obamacare exchanges mean more customers you can screw over for bigger health premiums…etc.

Corporate America is- sadly-way too easily swayed into joining the big govt bullying…and are..in fact…accomplices to it.

For the auto industry it was a little different-because the EV mandates were government crushing their business models and demanding compliance…and then offering a carrot at the end of the ‘EV stick’...but…none the less…the car industry leapt to buddy up to the Obama and Biden regimes and didn’t fight back nearly enough.

Not when the promise of more profits was made. And so, ford and Farley only have themselves to blame for this massive 20-billion-dollar write-down.

Today’s hybrids are as hassle free as the average gas-powered cars. Electric vehicles are…and were still years and years away from being hassle free for most drivers.

I was also reading a story about a new type of hybrid…being called the er-EV. The extended range electric vehicle…which is a car that at least has a small gas engine in it to ensure you aren’t stranded. Apparently, Toyota is working on something like this.

I have also said from the very beginning- ever since we started talking about hybrids and EVs way back in the days of the weber and Dolan show-Bob and i would also talk about how: if you give the consumers a car that is at least as good ..and as reliable and hassle free as the one it is replacing…they will buy it.

EVs are not that. Hybrids are. This er-EV seems like it could be. Either way: government. Should stay out of it. Let consumer demand, science and technology drive the industry…as some of us have been saying all along.
