It has now been ten or eleven days with zero murders in Washington DC. Zero.
After having a murder rate of at least one every other day. As JD Vance put it yesterday: just in this short stretch of time, the moves by President Trump and Pam Bondi have saved six or seven lives: people who otherwise would have been murdered in DC.
And the democrats are furious about it, obviously.
And I admit-I don’t know how homicides wouldn’t be down ‘100 percent’, given that there have been none of them occurring...but...those are the DOJs stats.
And no, the federal government cannot keep this up forever-with national guardsmen in the streets- (I suppose they could, but they won’t)-
And so, eventually, the local leaders and pd are going to be put back in charge of the city’s safety.
But- what a remarkable turn-around in just a few days? And the real point here is-Trump is proving it can be done.
President trump is making every weak ‘woke’ big city mayor and common council member and police chief- look like an idiot- with this easy success in dc.
He’s proving that we-in this country- can have safe streets and safe communities if we really want them-and if our elected leaders in these cities and states- honestly prioritize them. Which they don’t.
And they haven’t in years.
Folks- whether it’s the city of Milwaukee...or Chicago or New York...or Minneapolis...
Pick a crime-ridden city-
We haven’t had leaders in those communities make any genuine- serious- effort to crackdown on crime in at least two generations now. No exaggeration.
They all play a good game and go to a few candlelight vigils...and say the same hollow words...and do nothing.
Trump and Bondi and Piro, etc.- are exposing them all as feckless pretenders.
Do you know that trump’s effort dismantled Washington DC’s numerous tent cities in just a single week?
This-as the residents of Frisco and San Diego and la and Denver and Philly and Portland and Seattle...etc... Have had to endure them for decades.... with them being a ‘special sort of nightmare’ over the last 5o to 10 years or so.
San Francisco’s leaders have finally started to ‘deal with’ more of their tent cities...but it’s taken five years since they started to engage in a more honest effort- and they still haven’t solved the problem.
Trump and Bondi’s moves have DC’s tent cities-gone- in less than a week.
And very importantly, they have those homeless people in rehab, in mental health clinics, or in shelters. They still aren’t helping the homeless in San Francisco...so much as they’re just moving them around and not letting them set up tent camps, anymore.
Folks, Gov Gavin Newsom’s ten-year plan to combat homelessness is literally- in its 22nd year now.
Tens of billions if not hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent on ending homelessness in California-and they have a homeless population that’s bigger than it’s ever been.
Just in la county, for example: in 2015- that county had about 44-thousand homeless people. And it was quite a crisis.
Now- la county has 72- thousand homeless people! And yet LA’s leaders insist it’s ‘not’ a crisis.
How are the voters of la county and California -possibly- still voting for these idiots?
But they are.
As I explained the other day: the left has turned homelessness into a money-making industry for them ..and the more homeless people they have in their communities...the more grant money they get from taxpayers to ‘combat it’...as they just stick it into their own pockets....and their own salaries...etc.
We genuinely have a system in place in which-if America’s ‘homeless advocates’ solved or greatly improved homelessness? They’d all be out of jobs...and so...why would they want that?
And so, the deep states in both dc-and within these state governments...just keep feeding the beast. Perpetuating the fraud. Pretending as if they’re doing ‘good work’ and ‘combating homelessness’.
No. They aren’t.
And it’s high time we demand better and cut off the ‘do-gooder’ funding that has only led to programs to hand out disposable crack pipes and clean needles to the drug addicts...and provide them with ‘safe spaces’ to shoot up...or overdose.
Imagine- Newsom and these California lefties cannot manage to get any of those drug addicts into treatment.... but they sure have found ways to keep feeding their drug addictions.
They don’t have a program...or an organized effort...to get them off the streets and into rehab or a mental hospital.... but hey...they’ve got organized programs to provide them with crack pipes and clean needles and a place to get high with a ‘govt paid’ spotter...ready with that provide if one of these druggies’ overdoses.
We don’t have a program to get you into treatment...but...we’ve got Mel, over there, who has taken a life-saving course and has Narcan ready to plunge into your chest if you overdose.
Because- we care about you.
This is the ‘California, Oregon, and wash state model’ to deal with homelessness on the west coast. And oh-it has been successful. They’ve got more homeless dregs of society than ever out there.
Tens of thousands of homeless -have turned into hundreds of thousands of homeless- thanks to the left’s tireless efforts out there- and their insatiable appetite for taxpayer money.
