Another example of how NOT to run your state

Jay Weber Show transcript 8-25-25

Did you see that gas prices in California could hit 8 dollars a gallon next year?

And yes, this is unique to California, due to the closure of two oil refineries in that state.

Yes, Gavin Newsome and California leftists have been trying to ban the internal combustion engine in California by 2035...just a few years from now-

And they are furious that congress and President Trump just moved to block that dream from being realized.

California and ten other blue states have sued to try to keep this ban on gas powered engines intact, but they aren’t likely to win in court.

Eight-dollar gasoline is coming California’s way. Wowza.

At some point you must stand back and marvel at how many ways the California leftists have harmed their own state and oppressed their own residents. Don’t you?

One of the biggest farces over the last two weeks has been this idea that Gavin Newsom is the new ‘hot property’ in the democrat party because he and his team are engaged in a campaign to slam and smear trump and republicans.

Being a-holes on social media is considered ‘Fighting trump’.... And oh.... Bill Maher is impressed...and Charlemagne is impressed...and... Newsom’s so impressive...etc.

But when it comes to states with the biggest problems, the most welfare cases, the highest cost of living, the most dysfunctional and drugged out society. etc.

California is absolutely the worst. Just the worst.

Ron DeSantis was asked to talk about why today’s democrat party is floundering and is so disconnected to the average American...and here’s what he had to say.

SEAN HANNITY: Here with more, he is live in Tallahassee at the airport, is the governor of this free state, Governor Ron DeSantis.

Governor, it breaks my heart and it also angers me. It angers me that this was preventable. This is your old friend Gavin Newsom.

Sanctuary state protections. He gets a commercial driver's license. Can't really even read English. Can't read road signs.

This was an accident waiting to happen.

GOV. RON DESANTIS (R), FLORIDA: Yeah, Sean, you and I have discussed the damage that Newsom's policies have done to California, and that's real damage. But this is an example of those sanctuary policies spilling over into the rest of the country. And in this case, the free state of Florida.

And yes, there were three people killed by a guy who should have never been in our country, should have never gotten work authorization, and certainly should not have been issued two commercial driver's license.

But I will tell you this, since this happened, what have you seen? We have the lieutenant governor of Florida bringing him back. He's going to face serious justice. The Trump administration immediately when this came to light, yank the business license of the trucking company that employed this guy.

In Florida, we're going to go after this company, too, because yes, I blame the sanctuary policies, but how as a company do you put somebody on the road who doesn't understand English knowing what kind of safety hazard that is?

So, it's a much different response from Florida under my leadership and under President Trump's leadership at the federal government. So, it's a big tragedy, but I think the response has been very robust in a good way.

HANNITY: What about the aiding and abetting by -- you know, the state of California? Can you go after California?

DESANTIS: Well, that's the tricky thing. So, if we can, we obviously will seek accountability. But you know, these states have been allowed to do these sanctuary policies. Obviously, under Obama, it was like a badge of honor for the liberal states. Under Biden, we had an open border.

I think to hold California accountable, what you're really going to need is congress, to defund sanctuary states, and to reel in the laws that are allowing people to gain the asylum system. He came from India, halfway around the world, illegally crosses the southern border, and then somehow makes a bogus asylum claim. That is not right.

HANNITY: You know, I've noticed Gavin Newsom is obsessed now with being on X and trying to pretend to be Donald Trump, and it's actually pretty pathetic. Even liberal Morning Joe thinks it's pathetic and it's embarrassing.

But if they want to keep doing that, I'm fine with it. This is serious business, though. These policies are resulting in Americans being murdered, raped, victims of violent crime. We have known terrorists in the country, cartel members in the country, gang members in the country, drug dealers in the country.

And you know, for four years, Democrats told us the border was secure and the border was closed. They all lied.

Democrats couldn't stand for Laken Riley's family. They couldn't stand for Jocelyn Nungaray's family at the president's joint speech before Congress.

What is wrong with this party that they are that they seem more obsessed with the Abrego Garcias and the so-called rights of illegals over the safety of their own citizens?

DESANTIS: Well, look at the governor of California. He's getting cheeky on social media against President Trump.

But what's President Trump doing? He secured the border. He's working to deport illegals. He's working on peace agreements internationally. He's focused on cleaning up Washington, D.C., things that actually matter.

What is governor of California doing to help the people in southern California rebuild? They're still on their backs. They haven't rebuilt southern California after those fires.

Wasn't he the guy that was supposed to end homelessness? Didn't he have a plan like 10 years ago he's going to do? And it's obviously been a total disaster.

So, he's ignoring the problems in his own state in favor of posturing on social media and trying to take cheap shots at the president. He thinks that's going to ingratiate him with some of the far-left voter -- maybe it will, but it's certainly not advancing the ball for the people that he's supposed to lead and represent.

HANNITY: You know, obviously, Gavin is looking for the nomination of his party in 2028. Maybe he thinks this is cute. I don't really know, but the facts are the facts.

This came out in your debate with him that I had the pleasure of moderating, and maybe he should be focused on his day job because when you look at the statistics in California, they're not really good for him. I mean, they had fire hydrants in the Pacific Palisades that didn't have water. They had an empty reservoir.

If you look at, you know, the highest taxes across the country in terms of sales tax and other taxes like income taxes, if you look at homelessness if you look at quality of life issue, you look at all these other you know things that came up homelessness, you know, the state is failing dramatically and you pointed that out in that debate.

And you know the numbers speak for himself and this guy's playing, you know, Donald Trump's alter ego on social media. It's bizarre. It's weird.

DESANTIS: Now, think about it. They have the highest state income tax in America. Florida, we have no state income tax. And people say, "Oh, well, Florida, you have sales tax." Yeah, we do. And California has a higher sales tax than Florida, too.

So, not only do we have no income tax, we have a lower sales tax than them. But think about how nice California is naturally. It's one of the most spectacular places in terms of the physical attributes, the weather, and yet they're losing population.

You know, it's one thing to lose population from some of the Northern states that are really cold and have bad weather. You got to try to mess California up because they have so many things going for them. And somehow, he's managed to do it and the people have fled.

That’s right.

Moreover, if this dope loses his own redistricting fight- within his own state this November- he’s really going to look like a dillweed.

You’ve probably seen that the Texas redo is official: Texas senators passed the new maps that give republicans five new congressional seats in 2026...and Governor Greg Abbott quickly signed them...and so...if the democrat activists cannot manage to stop this in court-

Republicans could have five new ‘red’ congressional seats next fall...helping to keep their slim majority.

But Gavin Newsom and California democrats didn’t even wait for this Texas move to be official- before they launched their effort to redo California’s maps- claiming that they can find five or six more seats-just in California-as a way to offset the Texas move.

The problem is- California democrats are divided over Newsom’s scummy cheat.

It turns out that at least-some!- democrats in California are more honest and decent people-and don’t want to see the changes they’ve pushed for when it comes to gerrymandering in that state- just tossed to the side- to satisfy Gavin Newsom’s arrogant political tantrum here, which is really just a cynical way to get him the 28 nomination.

Most of the democrat activist groups in California-and nationally- are not interested in fairness or honesty-and have done complete 180s in order to suddenly support Newsom’s California cheat.

Those groups include Obama and holder’s scummy ‘national democratic redistricting committee’....and long-time lefty outfits like ‘common cause’....

Common causes’ leaders are being such hypocrites on this that they can’t even try to hide it. Instead, they’ve just come right out and admitted, yes, we are changing our entire- yearslong- playbook on redistricting and gerrymandering. Yep. Gotta ‘fight trump.

They are using that excuse.

But-bottom line: the redistricting wars could really start to heat up now-

Between now and probably July of next year.

Texas’ move quickly had tubby Pritzker, Kathy Hocul, Gavin Newsom, and other dem governors insisting they were going to redo their maps-

And that escalation has Florida, Ohio, Missouri and Indiana- on our side- saying they will then redo their maps- for at least six more seats.

This could get crazy...because you are going to have governors and state legislatures on both sides of the political aisle now being pressured to get on board and aggressively gerrymander their maps- and outside of the normal process.

When democrats don’t get their way-they run to court-

But even the left-wing legal experts and insiders are admitting that the democrats are in the worst position here- if some flurry of new ‘map making’ breaks out.

This could easily be another instance in which Trump, and the republicans have drawn myopic democrats into a fight that they shouldn’t want-

Just like the fights over illegals, and crime, and lower taxes, etc.

These dimwit democrats just keep leaping into the same traps.

I’m obviously biased, but i don’t see how the democrats can win in court -when their arguments are so flawed.

For example-the Texas democrats say- it is the new maps that are racially discriminatory:

I’m thinking that- about the best the democrats can hope for-is to push the legal wrangling over these five new seats-past-next year’s ‘drop dead date’ to get the new district map in place and candidate’s names on the ballots.

That’s the only way democrats really have to delay this new Texas map from taking place-and most of them seem to know it.
