I like this move: The Trump administration is considering releasing the audio of the interview that an assistant attorney general just did a few days ago with Ghislaine Maxwell.
Great. Do it.
For some amazing reason-this was the first time that she’s ever actually been deposed or questioned by a DOJ official...related to the Jeffery Epstein crimes....
And last week.... A deputy to Pam Bondi named Todd Blanche went over to the prison she’s in and interviewed her over the course of two days. Her lawyer says she held nothing back. Talked openly and gave her take on ‘probably a hundred people as her attorney put it-
And so- yes- great idea. Release the entire interview.
One judge has already said she’s inclined not to-and we know Ghislaine Maxwell doesn’t want that grand jury information released- through her attorney.
The way this works is that grand jury testimony is almost never released publicly-and when it is-the victims of the crime and the witnesses who testified have a chance to lobby the court against- or in favor- of release.
And so, if these judges hear from enough witnesses that they feel like they need to be ‘protected’ and this stuff shouldn’t be released- they’ll block the release.
Just on its face: we’re talking about two New York judges. Almost certainly liberal trump haters. If releasing this grand jury testimony is going to help Trump and his DOJ at all-, they’re not going to do it.
Which is even more reason to publicly release the tape you just made when you interviewed maxwell.
Just- redact the names of the innocent-and release it all.
Meanwhile-for some infuriating reason- James Comey and the house members sitting on the house oversight committee feel the need to reopen a congressional can of worms.
I’ve said from the beginning: republicans, don’t get pulled back into these stupid distractions. Just keep yourselves focused on doing the work of the American people.
There is zero upside to wasting all sorts of new time and money on the Epstein thing.
But- Comey’s bound and determined to waste time and money- and very likely play right into the desperate democrat’s hands....and keep giving them false fodder to distract us from more important things.
And so...here we go. Yesterday, Comey got a splash by subpoenaing bill and Hillary Clinton.
Really? Good Lord and I know the connections. And I know Ghislaine was at Chelsea’s wedding...yada yada...blah blah...
But...what are we really expecting to get here, from either bill or Hillary- or- from a larger house investigation by this committee?
Where does this really go?
Because-regardless of what’s found out- neither side of the aisle is going to take it at face value or believe it, anyway.
The Clinton’s will very likely refuse to testify, and Comey will threaten them with jail time, but nothing will come of it...blah blah.
Or- bill and hill will testify behind closed doors-and give them nothing. We’ve seen both lie directly to congress and to the American people over decades. Decades. And everyone knows they are lying, and nothing ever comes of it.
It's not like bill is going to be honest and cop to ‘do’ teenaged chicks with his buddy jeff all thru the early two-thousands’...
So, what comes of this...and why even waste the time?
And what’s Hillary going to know? Or cop too Having Epstein killed in prison to protect bill and her political career?
Come on.
It has become increasingly clear over time: that as much as some people want to believe Epstein was part of some expansive and global pedophile ring that’s ‘really running things’...
That what’s closer to the truth is- this was a globally famous billionaire who everyone seemed to know was a pervert that virtually all of them tried to keep their distance from- except for a select few. As in there are a small number of famous powerful perverts who were clearly engaging in Epstein’s activities with him-but according to Alan Dershowitz- we already know their names.
The truth is probably much closer to what the Trump DOJ initially put out last month-which touched off all this new nonsense:
Comer also wants to question Ghislaine Maxwell. Fine. She’s the one person who might have some new information and/or could name some new names or point us to new leads.
All the rest of this is unnecessary.
Comer sent her attorney a letter last week rejecting her request for full immunity in return, though, and putting off any testimony until after the US Supreme Court decides the legality of her current conviction.
So-it’s going to be months before anything useful is going to happen here.
Unless.
Unless Pam Bondi and Todd blanche decide to simply release the recording of the interviews that blanche just did with Ghislaine in prison.
Just- release it all. Prove she’s saying ‘nothing new’...or maybe she is....and then move forward or drop it.
That’s the only way that any of this new Epstein nonsense benefits trump or republicans...and if the dems want to continue to try to keep weaponizing this between now and next fall- let ‘em.
No one’s changing their vote in an off-year election over Jeff Epstein silliness.
