Now that the Trump administration is finally starting to ‘win’ some of these bogus federal lawsuits that leftists rushed to file against its reforms.... We are finding the need to rest where some of these efforts are.
For example: the effort to dismantle and defund the federal dept of education as much as we possibly can- given that it’s a bogus agency and massively unnecessary federal bureaucracy- that does nothing productive when it comes to educating your children. It really doesn’t.
The education department is a ‘pass through’ for all sorts of federal education funding...but the money only ‘passes through there’ so that the teacher’s unions and the department’s leftist bureaucrats can attach all sorts of unnecessary conditions on it before they send it to the states.
This department was literally- a creation of Jimmy Carters in 1979...when he thought he needed the support of the teachers’ unions. This-is how he bought their votes: by agreeing to create an entirely unnecessary federal agency-when educational matters had always been left to the state and local leaders-as it should be.
This -genuinely-isn’t a necessary or ‘core’ federal agency in any way.
And yet, it’s not easy for congress to just snuff it out, given how past congresses have expanded its power over time.... created ‘add on’ agencies over time..etc..
Sadly, this isn’t an instance of republicans being able to just kill off the dept of education with one or two votes....while they have power.
The move would have to involve the filibuster, which would require at least seven democrats to go along with the scheme-and none of them will be willing to do so-
And so, President Trump and his team have worked to try to keep this promise- to kill off the useless and bloated and leftist- education department- in other ways.
Some of Linda McMahon’s initial firings took hold. Others were blocked in court. Things got complicated...and the basic effort to ‘downsize’ and try to shrink the departments’ responsibilities to ‘nothing’.... got sidetracked.
So-where do we stand? Now that the supreme court ruled in favor of the trump administration this week and says the president’s team-can- move forward with the 14-hundred layoffs that a lower court was blocking.
The education department’s ‘office of civil rights’ was unnecessary redundancy.
Snuffing it out is yet another thing that the big-govt liberals and socialists want to have a fit about...but.... the dept of education does not need- an office of civil rights when we already have a far more robust one operating at the justice department.
Why did the federal education department-ever?- get to handle civil rights complaints and make the call on who’s violating anti-discrimination laws- in our schools and universities?
The department is meant to focus on ‘education’ not ‘civil rights law’. We have a whole other department for that.
Meanwhile-every story that was written about trump’s win in court this week seems to mention that...you know...while republicans support killing off this department...most Americans don’t. According to a Quinnipiac poll ...60 percent of Americans oppose getting rid of the department of education.
Okay.
That only means that ‘most Americans’ have no idea what they are talking about- or being asked about.
Genuinely.
That isn’t me giving the ‘snotty response’ to a poll result I don’t like. It’s me explaining that some poll results are meaningless...because the American people are being asked about something they don’t understand.
Most Americans have-zero background- on how or why this department was ever created...nor why it exists. None of them have-any idea what the federal department of education does.
It just ‘sounds like we should have one’.
Honestly.This poll result means nothing because the respondents to the poll have no ‘real idea’ what it is they are being asked...or what their answer suggests they support.
This is like those polls that show...70 percent of Americans support .... homicide cops.
What? 7 in ten Americans support killer cops?
What?
No.Oh. We thought you meant cops who solve homicides.
Hey...60 percent of Americans think it’s important we have an ‘education department’.Okay...but do they know it’s only just a department run by the teachers’ unions and left-wing ideologs who want to direct the course of your child’s education in this country? Turn them into good lefty soldiers?
Oh, no. I didn’t know that.
Do you know that if there was no federal education department- the states would get a bigger chunk of federal money- just block granted to the states- so that state and local leaders could use it- as needed? - instead of having unionist bureaucrats in a far-off city force them into using it in certain ways?
Oh, no. We didn’t know that.
Well, then, would you like to change your answer on: should we defund the federal education department?
Folks- poll results measuring what the ‘uninformed think’.... are useless. And that Quinnipiac poll is useless.
And now- in the wake of this Supreme Court win on Monday-
So- this big ‘advocate’ for the education department says-if we don’t have one- civil rights laws won’t be enforced.
She doesn’t even mention how close the education department might.... You know....
Affect education!
Because it won’t.
The sad but important truth here is- it won’t: shutting down the federal department of education will- in no way- harm a student’s educational experience in America.
It really won’t.
Because -in truth- the state and local communities have always taken care of the funding, curriculum, and most important calls related to our schools and educational systems.As it should be.
In truth! - this department originated as a....cancerous.... malignant growth ...out of an ever-expanding, corrupt, and inefficient federal government.
It never was ‘of any use’ to anyone-aside from the activist left and their bullying ‘teachers union’ educators.
So, I’m glad to see the Trump administration finally win that legal showdown and be able to move forward with this.
And-technically- this supreme court ruling is temporary...but...it clears the way for the trump administration to downsize the employee count and ‘outsource’ the department’s ‘busy work’ and the few actual responsibilities it has- to other departments.
And so- this was the six conservative supreme court justices acknowledging that trump-as the leader of the executive branch- can downsize any department as he sees fit...
And...the changes Trump makes may-well be more permanent over time...or the next democrat administration can try to reverse them and balloon this useless agency back up to its ‘Biden era glory’.... or whatever.
But- it’s another example of what i said the moment the flurry of lefty lawsuits began:Trump will win virtually all of them, eventually, because they aren’t being filed based on any actual laws being broken or constitutional boundaries being crossed.
They’re being filed out of leftist anger and panic...as they rush to court to find a judge. Any judge. Who will try to block the president from doing what the law and the constitution- do- give him the power to do...
And that they, as activists and lawmakers in the minority, have no way to stop.
