We’ve been talking about the intentional gaslighting and lying the democrats are doing-to the American people- when it comes to the reconciliation bill that just passed.
All the hysteria over taking illegal aliens and able-bodied Americans who aren’t willing to work or volunteer for even a ‘few hours’ each week-off of Medicaid to strengthen that program and make it more stable for the people who it was designed for- has been ridiculous.
And that’s all these republican reforms to Medicaid do: Medicaid has ballooned since an Obamacare expansion across 40 of the 50 states allowed states to basically ‘cheat the system’ and get a bunch more federal funding if they put more people onto the program....and so these small changes are meant to slow the trajectory of its growth- not ‘cut it’ in any way.
But- the liars are going to lie. The gas lighters are going to gas-light. It’s all today’s democrats have any more-is hysteria and alarmism tied to lies.
And it’s not just American leftists. It turns out that the same ‘people are going to die’ nonsense is going on in Britain right now- as leaders there try to pare back on a ludicrous new welfare benefit that their liberals dreamt up a few years ago.
The Wall St Journal editors talk about the crisis of the welfare state- globally. This same crisis related to overly generous welfare programs and benefits is being seen across the western world, they say....
With Britain’s prime minister- Keir Starmer- the target of a revolt last week- over his suggestion to ‘very modestly’ adjust a welfare benefit there.
The editors use this as an illustration of how deeply entrenched the welfare state is now-in the western world. And they are correct.
That is an accurate assessment of how soft, weak, demanding, and dependent the American people-and western populations in general-have become.
We genuinely have reached the point of ‘alarming’ in all these national budgets-and yet-- not a single group of lawmakers has the guts- or the integrity- to do what’s right and reform these programs.
And ‘reform’ means ‘reform’. We can still have generous social security and Medicare and Medicaid system. It just cannot be a ‘runaway handout’ for 150 million Americans.
Our entitlement programs -here- need significant and major reforms to both remain solvent-into the future- but also to fix our ‘runaway’ and out of control federal budget. These are -genuinely now-
Genuinely ‘runaway’ entitlement programs that keep ballooning in cost and benefits to the ‘takers’ while the actual working people and taxpayers who pay for them fall further behind.
But every time a republican lawmaker suggests we need to get serious about reforms- that person is smeared and lambasted...
And as we just saw with the gentle reforms to Medicaid in the reconciliation bill- any time republicans even try to ‘gently’ adjust these welfare and entitlement programs-the democrats go apoplectic and work a scam to scare the voters...instead of getting serious.
Homan Jenkins of the Wall St Journal says that three words have become the latest silly mantra of the left, ‘people will die’.
How many times have we heard that? And out of the mouths of how many different democrats?Over the last month-as it relates to this reconciliation bill and the very minor reforms to Medicaid.
Everyone from Tammy Baldwin and Mark Pocan to Chuck Schumer, AOC, and squats with unions and Bernie-have all been parroting the same alarmist lie: but millions will die’.
People will die.
Young mothers will die. Etc.
Repeatedly. And it’s just a tedious bunk.
Jenkin’s starts out by stating something that is true-but most people never consider: that any time the government creates a new program they are creating a beneficiary of that program who is then going to be ‘harmed’ if it’s taken away from them.
Right?
That is a true statement- and it’s one that the democrats and the ‘western left’ have used to their advantage again and over again, politically as they have expanded and expanded and expanded the welfare state:
Every time they create a new handout- they are creating tens of thousands-to millions of people- who are going to get that new benefit and then be...quote...harmed...if it’s taken away.
That’s how we’ve gotten to this idiotic, three words, ‘policy position’ of today’s democrats: people will die.
Today’s democrat party genuinely is a party of no ideas. No adults. Nothing serious. Only scare tactics and (more and more) are resorting to violence...as part of their on-going temper tantrum.
That’s got longtime democrat poli sci professor Ruy Teixeira checking in- seven months after the last election-to see if the party that he ‘used to belong to’ has wised up and modified its socialist bullying platform yet-
And is starting to get back onto the right side of the 80/20 issues and back onto the right side of the American people.
So-Ruy looks today- and says ‘nope. Not yet’. Still no real signs of movement back toward sanity for the party that he used to love and belong to.
Texiera goes on to suggest that a smart democrat in 2026 and 2028 will ‘run against’ most of what their own party stands for...and win that way. He suggests- run against your own party... And broadly against both parties...and frustrated voters will probably be impressed by you and hop on board your campaign.
And he considering the current problems within the democrat party-it might be the only way for red-state democrats and 2028 presidential contenders to win-given their party’s current problems.
