There’s a significant story at politico.com today-about how our EPA and its related departments are unable to ‘do their jobs properly’ because of the funding cuts and uncertainty that Trump and Doge have injected into their agencies.
Wonderful.
That’s fantastic news given that-over the last 20 or 30 years- our EPA and interior departments, etc., have been taken over completely by eco-zealots- and have shifted their priorities decidedly ‘away’ from traditional EPA missions....and focused on global warming b.s. instead.
The piece is written to elicit alarm from the average reader-but ‘every part’ of this story- I find encouraging.
A downsizing and refocusing of these agencies on their original and core missions is long overdue.
Politico spoke to over a dozen EPA and energy department officials....and they loudly complained that defunding and ‘Doge cuts mean they cannot get on with their ‘work’.
What is the ‘work’ they detail, though?
Almost entirely global warming and climate b.s. Politico reports:
‘Set up for failure’: Trump’s cuts bring climate and energy agencies to a standstill, workers say
But when you read further-this is about getting more wind and solar ‘online’...or doing more research into ‘heat pumps’...which are sucky technology for most climates...etc.
This is, basically, Trump’s EPA, energy, and interior department’s blocking the wasteful spending that Biden-era democrats slipped into budget bills and/or slammed thru on party-line votes.
This is great news for anyone who wants to see the waste and taxpayer abuse end- and have these agencies get back to their original missions.
From here on out, Lee Zeldin and the Trump White House will decide which of these programs are worthy of allowing to continue. If they make genuine efforts to add more reliable energy to the power grid- they’ll be allowed to continue. If they are wasteful global warming spending-they won’t.
As it should be.
This is another major change-thanks to the voters and the trump administration-
And thanks to the wild and bullying overreach by the left in both the Obama and Biden eras.
In fact-in a ‘much ignored’ piece last week- a former Obama white house aide admitted that the eco-zealots (in general) have overplayed their hand-and the California eco-zealots (more specifically) greatly overplayed their hand.
This woman used to be a California regulator, Mary Nichols, and she helped craft and ram thru the EV mandates that President Trump and the republicans just killed off last week-
They killed them off using the congressional review act, too, which means that these same EV mandates-or any significantly similar to them- can ever be put in place again-by federal regulators.
It's a huge win for our side-and for basic American freedoms. And it has Mary Nichols admitting we were certain the democrats would remain in control. We were certain Joe or Kammy would continue to lord over the climate change effort.... and....we overplayed our bullying hand:
If you boil down her admission-it’s that: we thought dems were going to keep control of the EPA and café standards-and so we were certain we could force the car companies into compliance. They were going to be forced into producing ‘EVSs’ only- and by 2035. We had ‘em pinned to the matt. Then trump won...and our bullying backfired. There was no way to try to finesse them...or sweet talk them...after our arrogant bullying of the Biden era.
That’s what she’s admitting, here, and it’s quite the admission. It’s the first time that I have seen-in print- or anywhere- an eco-zealot regulator admitting that ‘her side’ is simply bullying the rest of us to get their way-and know it.
This isn’t about ‘giving the consumers’ choices...or giving drivers what they want...or even ‘making better and cleaner options available to help combat climate change.
This was- bullying America into compliance. They were certain they could, and it backfired.
Another move that has backfired: using the force of the government to shut down any power plants that aren’t fueled by wind and solar.
This is another move that the Trump EPA and Lee Zeldin recently made that the activist left was certain they had ‘settled’.
The eco-zealot groups are rushing to sue-but Trump and Zeldin’s ‘take’ on the clean air act and how it doesn’t regulate power plants- likely holds up in court.
It’s win after win-even if the American people aren’t being made aware of most of this.
In fact-
If we are on the issue of deregulation- the Trump administration is also- ingeniously- using a program that Barrack Obama put in place-to cut thru federal regulations- to boost our supply of critical minerals.
This is another great example of using the left’s favorite cheating schemes against its own activist base.
The democrats in dc claim to know the thicket of regulations and permits has become unworkable-
But every time they have had a chance to vote on cutting and fixing them-they have refused.They fought one of their own senators-Joe Manchin- by tooth and nail on this- just two or three years ago.
Theirs is also the side whose activists rush to block every single new mining, drilling and pipeline project....so... Forgive me if I’m skeptical that we are entering a new era of bipartisan cooperation here- when it comes to mining for critical minerals and rare earths.
In fact- the story mentioned it: Biden’s regime moved to use this same ‘fast track’ process when the president insisted, he was going to create a ‘green energy’ economy in the country...we were going to make EV batteries here...etc.
And then...in the years that followed- I detailed for you-several important mining projects that Biden’s EPA and eco-zealot members denied after they were proposed.
The pattern was -genuinely: hey, Biden’s promising to let us open a lithium mine here...or a graphite mine there. And so.... the mining companies rushed ahead in ahead indictment.... only to be told no.
But, but...you said... We’d be making batteries...any. And...but need the raw elements...and...
Nope. It was all a lie. Biden’s regime wouldn’t be fast tracking or allowing anything. No. They were just lying to voters and the mining industry again.
So, it’s great that Trump’s team is launching a more serious efforts
