I like both ideas-
Coming from Arkansas senator Tom Cotton let’s make mandatory minimum prison sentences for anarchists and rioters.
I’d emphasize these are just the- minimum-sentences that a federal judge could hand out- but given how many lefty judges we have sitting in our district courts- it would force them to -at least- impose-this amount of lockup time.
I’ll be interesting to see whether John Thune and Mike Johnson and their larger cause think cotton has a good idea here-and move this bill quickly -while the issue is still a hot one....and while it’s still clear....thevast majority of the American people are on president trump and the Gop’s side when it comes to enforcing our border and immigration laws.
I chuckled yesterday at how much coverage Harry Enten got over at CNN- for showing poll numbers that said ‘legal immigrants. Immigrant citizens. Have massively shifted toward Donald Trump-
Toward him- as he has toughened his stance on illegal immigration.
No one who has listened to this show for any length of time should ‘wonder why this is.I have clued you in on this one, before.
But first-let’s hear from Harry.... who said...American citizens who came here as migrants, legally, have shifted toward Trump on the question of illegal immigration by 40 points over time.
Enten is shocked. Most beltway insiders are shocked. They don’t believe it: how can this be?
How can immigrant Americans possibly support trump on this?
It’s logical, really: because they came in the right way.
And I’m not being flippant. That is the answer. I have said-forever: just talk to an immigrant who came in ‘the right way’ and followed the rules- and you will find a person who hates, hates, hates illegal immigration.
After all they had to run the impossible gauntlet of qualifications and paperwork. They had to pay the 10 to 20-thousand dollars in legal fees and filing fees. They had to wait a decade or more to ‘get legal’...
And now they are supposed to be angry at Donald Trump and the republicans for demanding fairness? And put others through that same process?
Folks- legal- aliens...will tell you that the process is too tough. It takes too long. It was expensive. They’ll tell you we need to streamline it and make it fairer.
But they will-not- tell you that everyone should just ignore it and come in illegally.
No. In general you will not find a person who appreciates America more. I love America more. And hates illegal immigration more than a migrant to this country who has come in the right way. And God bless them all.
I hope every single one of them and their families find the American dream they came searching for.
But- it’s not hard to explain why the democrats have also lost ‘legal immigrants’ as a voting demographic that ‘used to’ support them, but doesn’t, anymore.
This also proves that- in every way- today’s democrats are bleeping up this issue.
As Clay Travis put it yesterday, democrats are lighting themselves on fire with normal voters...on all immigration issues.
Yep.
They are.
I’ve been annoyed...
I suppose.... both amused and annoyed.... By the glut of coverage over the last few days related to how this is what trump wants, politically. How it benefits him politically...to have riots in la with illegals waving Mexican and Palestinian flags as they stand atop burning cars.
Well, yes, it does...but...the suggestion that trump ‘wants’ this sort of social unrest is foolish.
But...if the democrats and their paid thug squads are going to give trump and the republicans such a wonderful political gift such as this- should they ignore it?
I mean...come on.
This is a major ‘unforced error’ of the far left. They and the democrat lawmakers who then chose to double down on the error and back the anarchists.... are really to blame for any political benefit that goes to those on the ‘right’ here.
This would be like refusing to take the lay-up in a basketball game.
Listen to house speaker Mike Johnson yesterday...who used the riots to go thru all the wonderful new, pro-America, anti-illegal spending that’s in this big, beautiful bill...before saying this:
Folks, when your political opponents are basically asking you- to skit-scat and be-bop all over them...you got to do it.
You got to take the layup.
I reminded listeners yesterday that the editors of the Wall Street Journal- great newspaper that it is, otherwise-
The editors do happen to be long-time pro-illegal laborers. The editors of this paper have spent decades working hard to insist there are good illegals and bad illegals. They’ve always cheered on the cheap labor.
And so, it’s funny to see them say today....my God, the democrats are making Stephen Miller’s day.
Stephen Miller is a top trump aide who is a major ‘deport em’ all’ kind of guy. He wants every illegal deported-and has for years.
And this has the wall st journal editors wringing their hands over how the democrats are giving trump and miller the opening to do it: to just...start deporting everyone:
No. They’ll never learn that lesson.
Not when they are kicking anyone out of the party who tries to ‘speak reasonably’.
Jon Fetterman is the number one public enemy within his own party this week-for stating the truth, it’s idiotic to back the rioters.
You don’t back anarchy. You don’t back America-haters. You don’t side with the thugs burning things down and looting from struggling shop owners.
This shouldn’t be hard, people.
The people controlling today’s democrat party want-open borders. They do not care what they American people want. They are ‘America-haters’ and they have proven it again this week, by rushing to back the anarchists over the American people. Again.
I don’t know how many times we need to ‘see this movie’.
I don’t know how many times we need to see today’s democrat leaders’ side with the America-haters and the anarchists-before it finally dawns on the so-called ‘smart set’ -that today’s democrat leaders are America-haters.
It's shocking that it has come to this- and under the banner of one of America’s two oldest and greatest political parties...
But it has.
These riots, the wildfire destruction, the missing middle class: these all reflect the failures of the so-called ‘socialist progressives’ and their leadership in America, today.
And anyone who keeps voting for them is a putz.
