This shouldn’t surprise anyone: Trump and his team aren’t leaving it up to congress to investigate the Biden team’s abuse of the autopen.
The President has asked his own dept of justice to review the more than 8-thousand pardons that President Biden issued over the course of his administration especially the flurry of them at the end-
To see if they were done properly and constitutionally- which hinges in a large part on whether President Joe Biden, himself, knew who was being pardoned-and why!
I think most of us would agree that this should be a big part of any presidential pardon: does the president know the name of who he is pardoning-and why?
Due to Joe Biden’s half-days and long weekends at the beach-coupled with his increasing dementia- there are real questions as to whether Joe Biden-to this day! -has any idea who he’s pardoned.
I find it noteworthy that the pardons for his son, and other relatives and close aides, were all signed by Joe Biden, himself. It’s his real signature on them- almost as if the staff wanted to make sure they were legal and valid-
But virtually all the other 79-hundred and ‘whatever’.... were signed with an autopen.
And so-who was selecting who got pardoned? And operating the autopen?
Trump and his team smell a rat: a system that has been abused here. As well as a public trust that has been abused. And they want answers.
Those are the ones that have Joe Biden’s actual signature on them-and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why: because Biden’s people know that Donald Trump and his team would like nothing more than to call their validity into question- and start prosecuting hunter and some of these others for crimes.
Biden’s handlers were at least smart enough to know how to cover their own behinds- as they left office. I am guessing-but they almost certainly-did not- sit down with Joe Biden and explain 8-thousand cases of clemency to him- before they put them thru the auto pen.
Come on.
Not when this guy couldn’t manage to focus long enough to read a ten-minute speech off a teleprompter. I’d bet my house that joe Biden has-no idea-who he pardoned during his four years in office.
Heck- he might not even remember that he pardoned hunters and his brother joe-by now. What’s it been? Seven months?
So-it’ll be interesting to see what Ed Martin and James Comer find here. I’m going to go ahead and presume that there isn’t much evidence to be found-either way.
But maybe Anita Dunn and Biden team members were dumb enough to leave an email trail that proves they were ‘handling this’ without Biden. So, we’ll see.
I’ve got to believe that trump’s team has an entire army of young staffers going thru Biden-era emails and interactions to find evidence that President Biden either ‘did’ or didn’t know what he was signing-and when.
I am guessing that some of trump’s team members would love nothing more than to be able to say: we have hard evidence that President Biden was completely unaware that this new rule or regulation-or pardon-was being put in place. We’ve got emails with staff talking about how he didn’t need to be informed before they did it-etc. Which makes this law -or pardon-invalid.
You’ve got to believe that-as cutthroat as politics is-and as hard as Biden’s team tried to destroy Donald Trump any way they could-
Trump’s team is now looking for evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption and/or illegal moves...to expose them.
Using the autopen, in and of itself, is okay but using it as often as Joe Biden did- to the point that it was almost exclusively how they signed documents- is not normal.
My sister-who is in health care and gave therapy to seniors who were recovering from surgery or an illness-has an interesting theory: she wonders if Joe Biden’s signature showed signs of decline-so they had the autopen sign everything.
As in: was his signature getting so shaky or unreadable that his critics would pick up on it and use it as evidence he was failing mentally and physically?
Could be.
It’s as good a theory as any.
In fact-there’s a watchdog group called the oversight project- whose members looked at every document they could find with Joe Biden’s signature on it during his presidency-and they have flagged at least eight. Eight. Major orders that they say- an autopen signed this- and we have no evidence that Joe Biden ever mentioned it. Talked about it. Put out a press release on it.
And most of them were major regulatory changes.
It’s very suspicious that a white house and president wouldn’t want to crow about these significant new regulations they were ordering. So, Biden appearing to not even know it was being done in his name or even mentioning it publicly is suspicious. Yes.
