Trump's first 100 days have been awesome

Jay Weber Show transcript 4-28-25

So... President Trump will officially have been in office as on. What? Wednesday?

And may first is approaching. Elon’s short stint as ‘doge master’ is coming to an end after having exposed all sorts of institutional rot, grift, and misappropriation, and leftist abuse of taxpayers.

The border is closed and controlled-maybe for the first time in US history. Trump and his team have already proven that there really was no ‘border crisis’ and that Obama and Biden and the democrats only pretended there was because they want open borders.

Moreover-Trump’s team is arresting and deporting some of the estimated- one million-illegal criminals that Biden’s regime allowed to flood into this country-

And yes-crime is going down in most liberal communities.

Trump has already deregulated to a massive degree. He has moved to shutter several useless and leftist departments. He’s strengthening the military with recruitment across all branches booming.

Folks. Military recruitment is booming again, even if the MSM won’t tell you. The troops love trump.

Moreover, Trump has already pushed the chi-coms away from the Panama Canal and has Iran’s mullahs back in a tight box and is finally dealing with its nuclear program. With final steps to come.

He's got at least the buds of a peace deal to bring the Ukrainian war to an end. And yes, Putin seems to be jerking him around. And yes, so does Zelensky. But even liberal diplomats over there say...trump might have the start of something, here...he might be able to manage an end to that conflict.

And-in short-aside from the tariff wars that tanked the markets and shocked everyone...this has been an incredibly successful first 100 days.

And for the vast majority of Trump and independent voters-this is-  what we voted for.

But get ready for a relentless flood of nasty ‘100 day’ stories.... because .... if you live and exist inside the coastal bubbles...this has been a dreadful, mortifying, alarming stretch of time for you.

Listen to columnist Bret Stephens of the NY Times.

He was a panelist on Bill Maher’s HBO show Friday night, and he has simply- never seen- a more dreadful 100-day stretch.

“I think that my summary of the first 100 days is that the bad news is, it’s the worst first 100 days in U.S. presidential history. I can’t think of a presidency that had it worse. But the good news, I think, for the country is it’s the worst first 100 days in the U.S. presidential history, for precisely the reason that you suggest, Bill, which is that, a lot of the country that voted for President Trump because they didn’t like the course of the country under his predecessor because they were mad, because they thought stuff needed to be broken up and disrupted are waking up to the reality of just how much worse it can get.”

He continued, “And I’m hearing from so many friends who voted for Trump, who remember the first Trump administration as being an era — at least until COVID — of prosperity and saying, hang on a second, 100% tariffs? I’m losing half of my workforce, I can’t afford things, the price of consumer goods is still going up, this is not what I voted for. And that’s a relief, because if it had been a successful first 100 days, if it had been just a little less bad, people would say, well, what’s the problem if we’re not observing due process or what’s the problem if we’re defying the Supreme Court? That would be even more worrisome than what we have now.”

His contention is: if we thought things were bad under Biden...everyone’s waking up to how much worse they can really be. Trump’s ‘really killing the country now’...

It’s proof that people like Bret Stephens in the east coast media have no idea- what’s going on in the rest of the country or how most of the country thinks.

He cannot imagine that anyone- like you or me- would say ‘this is what I voted for’.

But for about six in ten Americans- yes, this is what a voted for.

If you take away the grumbling related to the shocking drops in the markets.  Take away the temporary economic turmoil...and yes...this is what 6 in 10 of us voted for...and we have zero regrets.

In fact- a funny thing happened during a voter focus group that Frank Luntz was conducting last week. I’d play the audio for you, but it’s a big zoom call, and so all sorts of people are talking over each other...

But...Luntz decided: I’ve got to ask these Trump voters if they’re PO’d at Trump for harming their retirement accounts.

Luntz -did not get the answers he expected.

Luntz’s fifteen ‘Trump voters’ all seemed to be well informed...and no... none of them were overly sweating the market drops.

They know it will bounce back.

This weekend president trump told reporters that his team has 200 trade deals worked out. They aren’t finalized yet. He didn’t have any details. But he said...over the next two or three weeks they are going to start to finalize and announce these trade deals...and if that’s accurate...the markets will start to head back up.

The 200 figure is interesting to me, because there are only 190 countries on the planet, and so, what ‘provinces’ or ‘Pacific Islands or other groups is he including here?

I don’t know.

But- even if he’s exaggerating: Trump’s people have been working on at least seventy new trade deals over the last few weeks and so the overall number doesn’t matter as much as ‘are they major trading partners’...and ‘what are the agreements.

But if the markets start to bounce back-what else do these coastal lefties have to whine about?

Govt layoffs?Doge disruptions?

Well- 70 percent of the American people support those....as poll after poll has shown for three months, now.

But- FYI-

CNN has now totaled up the number of Trump layoffs in the first 100 days...and puts that figure at 121-thousand people.

121-thousand federal workers have lost their jobs, so far.

That is-nowhere near- the 220 thousand that Trump and Musk said they are aiming for...and ...it only represents about 6 percent of the federal workforce...not the ten percent that trump and musk are shooting for.

And so- no, they haven’t met their downsizing goals within 100 days...but...is that a good thing or a bad thing for the left?  Because-they’re just whining about it either way.

Notably-this CNN then-does not- go on and name these experts.

It’s because there are none. Whoever wrote this story is also inside that east coast bubble and has ‘only ever heard’ complaints and alarmism and negativity created by these layoffs. And so...he or she feels confident enough to cite ‘generic experts’...as if ‘everyone knows this’.

It's not debatable. Everyone knows these layoffs have harmed government services...and everyone’s worried about whether the remaining workers can keep govt running.

Bull plop.

Very few Americans have even -noticed- that 121-thousand federal workers have been fired...and if Bill Clinton and al gore could fire 300-thousand workers in the 90s, and it was a ‘good thing’...how is Donald Trump firing about a third of that...in 2025...just horrific and unmanageable?

Trump’s first 100 days have been awesome.

Except for the market drops. Awesome. Unprecedented. ‘What we voted for’ and more.

But don’t expect to get the truth out of the news media. It’s going to be a long week of relentless trash and mischaracterization. Expect it.

Former RNC chair and ABC News panelist Reince Priebus had this to say about Trump’s first 100 days.
