The left’s crazy over-reaction to the arrest of Milwaukee County judge Hannah Dugan, after she-broke federal law is another one of these efforts that is going to ultimately backfire on them.
At first blush-the ‘headline’- and the ‘breaking news’ seemed alarming to anyone who wants to hate Trump...and/ or is pre-disposed to thinking he’s ‘going too far’...
But...it was amusing how...once again: once the actual ‘details’ of the case were out-and we got an explanation of what Hannah Dugan did- to help a ‘once-deported’ illegal alien who was in her court on battery charges- evade capture?
Then this quickly fell into another ‘Kilmer Abrego Garcia’ sort of story...in which the democrats and the left are actually ‘defending the indefensible’.
Every single. A serious attorney who I saw in the news media over the weekend said: Judge Dugan broke several federal laws.
Even the legal experts sitting on the CNN and MSNBC panels had to admit: if the criminal complaint is accurate- she broke the law.
A few of them tried to pivot too but still...it goes too far to arrest a judge for ‘managing her courtroom’.... but they all had to admit she broke the law.
And by the way- she wasn’t ‘managing her courtroom’...which was the crap that Gwen Moore and tammy Baldwin tried to muddle through...in their fake outrage. Dugan went into the hallway to bully and scream at the ice agents...who were waiting in a public hallway to do their jobs....
Then she went back into her courtroom and hustled the illegal- Eduardo Flores-Ruiz- and his attorney out through her personal chambers. And a different hallway...and out of the building.
That’s not ‘managing her courtroom’. That’s committing the sort of felony that get any one of the ‘rest of us arrested and imprisoned, too.
She broke the law- flat out.
And I’m betting she regrets it now. Judge Hannah Dugan let her emotions get the best of her-and did a series of stupid things here- and I bet she’d take it back if she could-
Regardless of what her attorney might say. Dugan had an ‘emotional reaction’ to a situation that popped up outside her courtroom doorway and flew off the handle. That’s what she did. There is no ‘disciplined stance’ behind her actions, here. It was her emotional reaction to ‘hating trump’ and ‘hating what he’s doing to this country’...in her mind. And she’s probably destroyed her life over it.
Even if she can avoid federal prison.
But- over the last few days-the left has only made itself look even more ridiculous, in their attempts to defend her.
You might have seen that a second female judge- this one in sawyer county- is now having her ‘own’ emotional reaction to Dugan’s arrest.
Judge Monica Isham....sent out an email to all the other judges in the state...and came off sounding like an unhinged lunatic, herself.
That-is not- a logical or reasonable reaction to Judge Dugan’s arrest. And it certainly isn’t one you’d expect from a sitting judge.Any other judge or prosecutor can simply read the criminal complaint and ‘know’ that Dugan broke several laws.So...do judges need to follow the law like the rest of us? Or not?
To Gwen Moore’s idiotic point: can judges decide ‘what the law is’...and ‘whether he or she is going to follow them’....in their own courtrooms?
No.
They keep accusing trump of wanting to be a king or an emperor.
Well? Is Hannah Dugan an empress in her own courtroom? Does she decide which laws will be followed in the Milwaukee County courthouse?
No.
And this idiotic claim by democrat officials that ‘trump could grab them up and toss them into a concentration camp’. Where does that even come from?
Is that some ‘Simone Sanders/Rachel Maddow’ thing that they’re claiming on MSNBC?
Is it out of some whoopie Goldberg or joy Behar fever dream?
It’s just-the dumbest thing-that is coming out of any given democrat’s mouth these days. Joy Behar: I got to be careful because Trump will snatch me off the street and put me in a concentration camp.
Woman: Donald Trump doesn’t care what idiotic thing you’re spouting today. What makes you think he does? Do you really think you’re that important?
But-we get the claim from this judge in sawyer county: she is not going to allow herself to be snatched up by ice and put into a concentration camp.
Where are these concentration camps they’re talking about?
Moreover- you aren’t an illegal alien, judge, and so ice wouldn’t come for you...and if you don’t actively break federal law...trump’s doj- cannot-and will not-come for you.
So- what are you even talking about?
Ice had an arrest warrant for Florez Ruis. He’s already been deported once before-and can be deported again, immediately. Or be put in federal prison for two years-
Folks- coming back in after you’ve been deported is a federal crime that’s punishable by two years in prison. Judge Dugan was quite happy to overlook that: she, literally, aided and abetted a criminal alien...who was in her court for beating up two people...so she’s at least got a strong suspicion that he’s a ‘violent’ federal felon...and... her reaction was to scream at ice agents and hustle him out the back way.
There’s no defending her actions.
Sorry. There’s not.
Not if you honestly believe in the rule of law-and that our laws need to be evenly enforced.
Every democrat who has ever said, muttered, or tweeted: no one is above the law...cannot honestly defend Hannah Dugan.
It really is that simple.
This sawyer county judge said. Quote...judge Hannah Dugan of Milwaukee County stood by her oath in the very building she swore to uphold it...blah blah.
No, she didn’t.Judge Dugan violated her oath of office. She actively obstructed justice. She actively broke federal laws.
Liberal judges do not get to ignore those facts and pretend as if they are working on some sort of ‘higher plain of fairness and consciousness now when it comes to illegals.
Because they aren’t.
Judge Dugan from the bench if she’s convicted of these obstruction charges.
I believe they could move even earlier than that-if they want to- but lawmakers can remove judges through the impeachment process.
It’s like that of a president: it starts in the lower chamber-which is the assembly-and they look at the severity and the legitimacy of the charges- and then vote to impeach.
That gets sent over to the state senate-which then holds a trial, basically, before voting on whether to remove this person. That vote would require 2/3 of the votes for removal.
And I was a little surprised to see a former Governor Walker call for lawmakers to start the process immediately.
He posted on X on Friday: start now. Vote to remove her from the office.
But this woman has-zero- high ground to stand on. Don’t kid yourself.
And the proof of that-is in how ‘fast’ the
Left wing talking heads and ‘outraged’ democrats backed down once they heard the full set of facts.
The average person might not have caught it, but if you are a ‘consumer of news’ you should have detected a significant ‘climb down’ from these democrat officeholders and leftists after they had learned what Dugan had ‘actually done’. How obvious the obstruction of justice was.
Suddenly, they pivoted to: she gets to manage her own courtroom.... which doesn’t apply here.
And... yes, there’s the letter of the law, but then there’s the standard for our ‘better angels’ and when it comes to fighting injustice...and that’s a load of crap, too.
There’s nothing unjust about deporting a violent illegal alien who has already been deported once before and found his way back here-only to abuse more Americans.
That is a Milwaukee democrat- Ryan Clancey- at a rather small protest out in front of the Milwaukee federal courthouse on Saturday- protesting the arrest of Milwaukee County judge Hannah Dugan for-clearly- breaking several federal laws, obstructing justice, and harboring an illegal alien.
The left-wing media tried to ‘play up’ the size of this protest, afterward, but at most, it was 200 people. Based on the video I saw...that estimate is high. It looked like somewhere between 60 to 100 to me-
But even if we go with their higher ‘200 figure’. That is not a large crowd if ‘we, the people’ are genuinely outraged about this judge’s arrest.
200 people is not ‘community wide’ outrage in any genuine way. That’s’ not a real show of force in a city of 600-thousand people.
Then- we learned-as these protestors were interviewed...at least some of them were leftwing legal activists from Chicago who had driven up.
Folks...’the people’ are not with judge Hannah Dugan on this one. It’s another ‘Kilmer Abrego Garcia’ sort of story...in which the democrats and the left are actually ‘defending the indefensible’...and it’s going to backfire on them.
A listener emailed me this morning: is Judge Dugan going to become the left’s new poster child for trump persecution?
And I wrote back saying: not if they’re smart.
Because the American people, in general, do not want to see city leaders, police chiefs, and judges ‘harboring illegals’ and refusing to cooperate with ice....
And second: they don’t want their judges and prosecutors to be ‘lawbreakers’ themselves.
I was amused by how ‘fast’ the left-wing talking heads and ‘outraged’ democrats of ‘Thursday’ rhetorically retreated once they’d heard the details on how judge Hannah Dugan had-clearly- obstructed justice.
Remember- the rule is: you don’t have to cooperate with ice. You aren’t breaking the law if you refuse to cooperate with ice. But you cannot actively impede them.
So- lets here how Pam Bondi described Judge Dugan’s actions. She was on Fox with John Roberts on Friday.
Bondi mentioned there-another significant part of this situation: Judge Dugan then slid back into her courtroom and continued on with her caseload and never told the victims and their attorney that their case wouldn’t be heard, after all. She secretly decided to ‘suspend’ the case and let them sit there for hours without making it clear: i just hustled the man who physically attacked you out the back door...so you no longer need to be here.
That’s ‘justice’?
Who is Judge Dugan standing up for here?
As former conservative host and former prosecutor Jeff Wagner put it on X:

But the best point made on social media was this one. From some ‘non-famous posters. I thought this point was stellar...because it exposes the left’s hypocrisy and idiocy in a single sentence.
This guy said: imagine if a judge snuck a Jan 6th protestor through the side door to evade federal agents like Judge Dugan did.
Yes. Imagine how all of these -same democrats and leftists-would be reacting now?

These judges crossed bold red lines, folks. So, if the left really wants to try to make them the next heroes of the Trump resistance- it’s only going to backfire on them, again.
They made themselves look like idiots trying to make Kilmer Abrego Garcia the face of ‘justice’ and lying about him not being MS-13.
I assume they’re not going to try to make Eduardo Flores-Ruiz into a martyr. He’s the bum that Judge Dugan was ‘aiding and abetting’.
He’s already been deported once which means he could be charged and put in prison for two years for ending up back here. Or he could be deported again.
But- he was in Mil County Board for beating up three people. One of them is bad.
And again-ice agents want to collect these potentially dangerous illegals ‘away from their own homes and in a setting that presents less danger to the officers and the community...and so...a court house is a great place to do it. That illegals’ not going to have a weapon on him, etc.
And so-its’ really for the benefit of everyone involved to make these arrests-this way. And any judge who genuinely cares about her community and the people in it should understand that-at the very least. Even if she doesn’t agree with the current focus on deportation.
Neither the judge- nor her defenders- have a leg to stand on, here.
Bernie sanders and Tammy Baldwin can blather every platitude that they’ve collected over their 40 years of being useless lawmakers...but it doesn’t mean Judge Dugan didn’t knowingly break the law here.
Trump. Isn’t being the lawless one.
Understand this clearly: Tom Homan isn’t being the lawless one. Pam Bondi isn’t the lawless one.Trump and his team are insisting that our phonebooks worth of federal laws-which the democrats and deep-state left have decided to ignore ‘more and more’ over the decades- start to be enforced again.
That’s all their meltdown is about: this ‘cafeteria style’ picking and choosing of today’s democrats on ‘which laws’ are worth following and ‘which laws’ they’re just going to ignore...has got to stop.
As Byron York put it: we know who the villain of this story is, here, when it comes to what played out at the county courthouse.
The ice agents were doing their jobs...and an arrogant judge had an emotional and ‘political’ reaction to it and decided that- in that moment- in her robes- she didn’t have to follow the law. She ‘was’ the law. And so, she went rogue.
Let’s be clear on what happened here, and which side is being ‘lawless’ in this era.
There’s no ‘due process’ argument here, with this illegal...and Hannah Dugan will now get her ‘due process’ and will probably be convicted of federal crimes if she’s charged with them. It’s up to what federal prosecutors in Milwaukee will do with her case.
But if she’s charged-she’s very likely convicted. After she’s given all of her ‘due process’ rights.
This is what most of us in this country voted for. Yes.
