The winning continues within the Trump administration -with a house-cleaning and reduction in workforce starting at the health and human services agency, and our other health agencies like the CDC, the FDA, and the NIH- Dr Fauci’s rancid agency.
This had Washington DC in another meltdown-but all these important positions will be re-staffed and none of the core functions of these agencies are going to be lost.
We are seeing the same pattern repeatedly when it comes to doge and trump cabinet members: they are going into these agencies and asking themselves and staffers a very important question: what is the mission of this agency supposed to be?
Because- most often- the actual mission of these agencies has been lost over time. And instead, they are doing all sorts of things that they were never tasked with doing- and/or congress never intended them to do.
And this is how Robert Kennedy Junior, to his credit, is approaching these health agencies. Let’s get back to the core question: why does this agency exist? What is it supposed to be doing? And is it doing that-
And if not? What is it doing instead?
Folks-this is such a basic question when it comes to ‘efficient and responsive’ government that -every- agency head who is new to the job should be asking it of themselves and their staff-every- time.
And yes, when it comes to the NIH and the CDC, etc., it needs to be acknowledged that these are the agencies who screwed up and overstepped their authorities during covid.Yeah.
From the mandatory lockdowns that were rolled out as ‘two weeks’ and then lasted two years- to the intentionally false and misleading information that Dr. Fauci and others atop these agencies have since ‘copped to’. Admitting they intentionally lied to the American people on various things in an attempt to manipulate and control us...etc.
Yes. Every one of these agency heads who is a Biden era-or ‘first trump era’ holdover needs to go. Yeah. Good idea. Let’s clean some houses- get rid of the left-wing institutionalists who have simply camped out in these jobs-and in these agencies- for decades-
And then- way too often- were useless to us once a real crisis hit-
Yeah- it’s time for a good house cleaning at the NIH, CDC, FDA, and HHS. I’m all for it.
And aside from the top administrators being reassigned, we are only talking about the loss of about twenty-thousand jobs, here, across what are massive agencies.
There is simply. No. Need. For that sort of bloat. It has all occurred- over time-
Over literally a hundred years or more of constant ‘big govt’ and ‘bureaucratic drift’...and it is not irresponsible to do audits and cut the fat and bloat.
This should have been done long ago-and by virtually every presidential administration.
Clinton cut 300-thousand federal jobs in his day- and that was paring down a smaller workforce than the one we have today.
Thanks to Obama and Biden, we are back up to an insane 2.4-million federal employees- and trump is only looking to cut that by ten percent...or about 200 or 250-thousand jobs.
Those numbers are infinitely reasonable. Especially when the HHS has 100 press offices-which is idiotic-
And 40 offices that only issue id badges.
Good grief.
In fact, this department- and the federal government- are so bloated and massive that again, yesterday, we ran into an instance in which our own govt workers and managers don’t know which of their fellow federal employees are living or dead.
This story ranks right up there with Elon Musk and Doge investigators saying- we literally have tens of thousands of people on our federal payroll who either don’t exist or are dead. We literally have no accurate records of this.
We got a great example yesterday when all these terminated employees who had a question or a beef about it- were told to contact Anita Pinter over at the office of personnel management.
Great. We’ve got a point person for the complaints and questions. See Anita Pinter.
Folks- Anita Pinter has been dead for a year. But -aside from a few people who knew Anita and worked with her-no one seemed to know she was dead.
The fired employees thought this was intentional and took it as an insult: yeah, and then Trump and Musk said- if you want to whine about it-try to contact Anita!!!And she dead!
But that’s not what it was: it was simply Kennedy’s staff and/or doge staff, trying to provide a contact for complaints.
They looked at the federal registry: okay, who would file any complaints. It appears to be this Anita Pinter woman- put that in the email: see Anita with questions or complaints.
They didn’t know Anita was dead...
And this is how bloated and ridiculous our federal bureaucracy is! You couldn’t find a better-inadvertent- example.
Karen- no one in your agency could have notified the personnel office that Anita had died?
Come on.
Really?
And who has been doing her job for a year if she’s been dead all that time?
My guess is that- roughly the same amount of work is being done- ither way. Because this is our federal government now-and it has been-for many decades.
Even after JFK’s cuts- this will be a 62-thousand-person work force at HHS. He says he wants to consolidate 28 divisions into 15- and get those agencies back on track.
Great. It’s overdue long.
And these moves to streamline govt and cut all the routine waste and ‘monuments to themselves’ and ‘little treats to themselves’ continue to be cut by the other cabinet members-across the new administration.
EPA head Lee Zeldin told the media this week that he is closing down a ‘one room’ museum that the EPA has built to praise itself- even though it gets nearly zero visitors in any given day, week, or month.
Zeldin says-it took four million dollars to build-even though it’s a single room...and isn’t even a big room...and now it has an annual operating budget of over half a million dollars a year- even though it’s a single room-
The final cruel joke: it got fewer than 2000 visitors last year.
Zeldin was on Laura Ingraham’s show-giving her a video tour and said...this great ‘history of the EPA’ completely erases the trump years:
I love Lee Zeldin. He has a passion for cutting wasteful spending and getting rid of the left-wing biases and built-ins of the dc swamp.
He’s been doing a lot of this himself, and he’s going to keep going long after Elon Musk and doge are gone.
The left was pretending as if president trump might be getting weary of Elon musk and ‘it’s time for him to go’.
They are saying that because they want it to be true. Not because it is.
The fact is: musk only signed up to do this for about 130 days-and as of last week in that Bret Beier interview- he confirmed that he thinks Doges’ work will- will- be concluded within that time frame-
And so- May 30th is expected to roughly be his last day. That’s how long his contract with the trump administration lasts.
So-there was always an end-date on this.
But as president trump said yesterday: the cabinet secretaries are in a groove, now. They have embraced the spirit of the doge effort-and they will continue it even after musk goes back to running his other businesses.
He even hinted that some of these doge experts might be kept on the payrolls in some of these agencies- to complete the work.
That’d be great.
But yeah- Musk’s involvement was always going to end on May 30th.
