I mentioned yesterday morning that both CNN and Byron York were reporting that MSNBC had intentionally pulled Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski and their show -off the air- yesterday.
It was quite shocking, given what an ‘insiders club’ and an ‘insiders roundtable’ this show has become. No one in America watches it. It gets terrible ratings. But the insiders and elites on the east coast watch it...and are sometimes featured on it....as Joe and Mika have-over the years- basically taken the ‘east coast cocktail party’ crowd....and made a morning show for them.
We know Joe Biden watches hours of it every morning, religiously, and it’s a perfect echo chamber for him to feel good about how he’s destroyed the country.
Genuinely: this is a steady, daily diet of ‘you’re doing’ great Joe, and Trump is Hitler, so you got to keep going’.
Suddenly, it’s off the air because NBC execs know it’s been a steady diet of rabid Trump hate, day after day, and didn’t want a scandal over Joe, Mika, or one of their guests saying something outrageous and insulting about the Trump assassination attempt.
And so- I assume- everyone involved in that show-including their regular guests- were on zoom calls all day with the NBC execs-as they ordered them to tone down the rhetoric and change the years. Years. Of angry trump hate they’ve been engaging in.
But come on. They aren’t going to do that.
Joe and Mika have been the point-people on a lot of this anti-trump hysteria and hate.
This show has been-and I’m sure will continue to be-within days- a main source of anti-trump hysteria and hate.
But as several media insiders put it, yesterday, the fact that morning joe was off the air was significant.
It signals-at the very least- an NBC management team that doesn’t trust them to be ‘decent people’, even after their sort of rhetoric nearly got trump killed...
Or...it signals more of an existential crisis within MSNBC-because Morning Joe-and all their afternoon shows-have this same tone! Relentlessly.
So, you wonder, are the adults in the room over at NBC’s executive suite finally stepping up and looking to clean up their rancid networks?
Are they at least instructing their hosts and guests to drop the ‘existential threat to democracy’ and ‘Trump’s Hitler’ hokum? Or no.
I’m guessing, ‘no’.
Joe and Mika were a little ‘meeker’ today and for the rest of the week-but they and their guests will be right back to demonizing Trump before August first rolls around. But you can tell they were PO’d this morning
This can also be seen as an admission of sorts-by NBC executives-that they know they have a litany of angry and deranged hosts on that network...who simply can’t be trusted to be ‘decent people’...or to convey ‘responsible sentiments’...if they are called upon to do so.
Joy Reid should have been fired many years ago for her blatant racism and alarmist rhetoric. Daily. Daily-she has guests on, and they smear and cackle and race-bait....
And...no one at MSNBC takes responsibility for it.
As one pundit puts it: you can bet there will be zero introspection from these hosts, and they’ll be right back to the Trump bashing soon-if not today-
Because- MSNBC and NBC execs unleashed this. They’ve found it acceptable for years. And once a so-called ‘news person’ becomes an opinionated personality, they can’t put it ‘back in the bottle.’.
Not only is their personal credibility shot-
But they find themselves unable to be fair and balanced and unbiased- because-instead-they’ve gotten used to giving the viewers ‘their opinion’, and that becomes most important to them.
And the evidence is in- Chuck Todd and jack tapper and john king and numerous other hosts on the cable networks who are still insisting they are doing ‘news’ shows, but they aren’t, because they cannot ‘help’ but spend half the show giving their opinions on things.
They’ll call it analysis. It’s, most often, opinion.
