Joe Biden was in Wisconsin yesterday to take credit for something he had nothing to do with: private sector job growth in Racine, thanks to the Foxconn development deal that Scott Walker and republicans smartly agreed to...
And then also-smartly- put all sorts of breakers and mile markers on it-so that if Foxconn didn’t live up to its obligations-it wouldn’t get additional state aid-
But at least we’d have that part of Racine County developed and ready as a new manufacturing and innovation space-
And sure enough- Foxconn fell short of its promises. But also- sure enough-they didn’t get any of the additional development incentives that Scott Walker’s team had promised because they didn’t hit their goals-
So-total loss to the Wisconsin taxpayers: zero.
At least until Tony Evers got into office and renegotiated the deal-giving! -giving! - Foxconn incentives and additional state taxpayer money that they didn’t deserve.
But still: we, as taxpayers, got a great development site that is highly desirable. Easy on and easy off to the i-system-very close to Chicago and Milwaukee- and great lakes ports...etc.
And so, of course additional businesses were going to find it. This spring’s announcement is awesome: Microsoft coming in to announce a $3.3 billion investment in its mount pleasant data center, meaning two-thousand more jobs. That’s fantastic news.
But please understand that Joe Biden and his white house had nothing to do with it.
This isn’t any different than if -you-wanted to open up an ice cream shop in a strip mall in Cudahy and found the place, signed the lease, and started ‘building out’ your business....only to have joe Biden fly into town and claim that ‘under my leadership, Shotzy from Cudahy is opening this ice cream store.
What did Biden have to do with it?
That’s what this event was, yesterday, folks, and it sounds like the locals down in mount pleasant who thought this was going to be a Microsoft announcement- instead had it hijacked by Racine democrats, Racine Mayor Cory Mason, and the Biden campaign team.
It sounds to me like the Biden campaign swooped in at the last minute because someone here (probably Corey Mason and/or ben Wickler) decided that this would be a great chance to mock Donald Trump...
Because....you know...Trump once praised Foxconn and said this was going to be a great Foxconn hub.
But Joe Biden didn’t have anything to do with the Microsoft expansion. Some republicans who attended in that area told me that this announcement was supposed to be last week and was supposed to include local Mount Pleasant dignitaries and a few republican leaders...and instead...it was postponed after being hijacked by the Biden campaign.
And so-what Mt. Pleasant got was: a hyper partisan event that had Biden and Corey Mason and the dems who spoke-completely-mischaracterizing the Walker Foxconn deal …and with Racine democrats speaking and mount pleasant leaders being frozen out of any stage time or recognition-even though that site is in Mount Pleasant-not Racine.
The truth is- if that site and surrounding region wouldn’t have been improved by the original walker deal-Microsoft never would have looked at it. So, this entire event was the sort of lying and gaslighting that joe Biden and today’s democrats do.
They are-literally- scouring the swing states and trying to hijack local media events like this- to make it look like Joe Biden has been doing something positive for these states-when he hasn’t.
I cannot stress enough how fraudulent Biden’s stop in Wisconsin was, yesterday, because he and his team had zero. Zero. To do with improving that site or luring Microsoft here.
In fact-Greg-give me Bryan Stiel. He’s the congressmen for that area and joined Dan yesterday to explain what yesterday’s stop was about.
Another fun ‘element’ to this Biden stop -and why his political handlers were so ‘hot’ to glom onto this Microsoft announcement once Mason or Wickler tipped them off to it is-
They need to squeeze the ‘absolute most’ that they can out of any travel shuffle Joe is doing these days.
The Chicago Sun Times had a big piece yesterday on how Biden’s stop in Racine was ‘technically’ in Wisconsin- a swing state that Joe Biden needs to win if he’s going to get a second term-
But it’s also so close to Chicago that they could have Joe do his quick speech and roomba thing in Racine...and then take him down to Chicago to do some fundraising.... even though Kammy’s also going to be in Chicago next week collecting checks.
The Sun Times piece admits: if it wasn’t for the major cash-hole that Chicago represents for democrats- and the fact that they’re holding the convention there in august- the Biden/Harris campaign would be completely ignoring Illinois.
Why?
Because ancient joe can’t be taken out of the stable too much between now and November....and Illinois isn’t a critical state. This entire race already seems to come down to Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania-
And if the DNC and the Biden regime didn’t need ‘Chicago millionaire’ cash, and if they didn’t to stay on JB Pritzker’s good side- because they’re hoping he’ll help pay the tab for the DNC convention if there’s a fundraising shortfall-
They wouldn’t be giving Illinois a second look.
The real reason that Joe Biden was in Racine yesterday: he had nothing to do with the Microsoft decision-or announcement. They knew it.
But Wickler, or mason, or whomever, also knew that they could lie about Biden bringing 2300 construction jobs and 2000 permanent jobs to Racine-
Which has some black people, you know-
Do you know Racine has some black people??
They needed to make that clear yesterday and play the race card. See? Joe’s helping black people get jobs...
No, he’s not.
But the real reason Biden’s team wanted to stop in Racine was-it’s just over the border from Chicago and we really got to get Joe and Kammy down there to suck some donors dry....and so...let’s pretend this is a stop about ‘jobs’ in ‘Wisconsin.’
That-my friends-is the sort of truth and analysis that you aren’t going to find in any single news report from the Wisconsin news media today...and so I felt the need to cover it.
Otherwise- these stops that joe and Jill and Kammy are doing in Wisconsin are irrelevant.
They truly are.
They’re also not getting all that much media attention.
It used to be that a campaign could send out surrogates like Kammy and Jill and Gavin and squats with unions...
And just the fact that a ‘famous person’ was in some far-flung part of Wisconsin was enough to have local reporters flocking there and doing stories generating news for the campaign.
But the truth is: any news organizations in Wisconsin now- regardless of the medium- now have so few staffers that they don’t have any reporters to send to see.....Jill Biden in La Crosse...or...Eric holder in Nekoosa....or wherever these people are holding their events.
So, i haven’t been seeing much ‘media pop’ coming along with these stops.
I think i read that Kammy’s back in Wisconsin again next week. Which makes sense if the -real reason-for the stop is some women’s fundraising event in Chicago-and it is...
But...it’s may, my friends. It’s may. And already, these stops by Jill Biden and Kamala Harris are no longer special and are being ignored.
If Biden stops much more- his stops-as the president of the United States- won’t even be special.
Especially if Wickler and the Biden team are already scouring the state for reasons for him to stop.
