Evers' latest map is a blatant political power grab

Jay Weber Show transcript 1-15-24 7:40am

So- this new rabidly partisan Wisconsin Supreme Court really likes to do things on Fridays-when they are going to get the least amount of attention and press coverage.

That’s a huge hint that they know what they are doing is unfair and scummy.

First-they waited until the Friday before Christmas-and late in the day-right before government was going to close shop for two weeks-

It was then-that they tossed out Wisconsin’s existing political maps and insisted new ones needed to be drawn.

Now-this past Friday- they made the deadline for the interested parties to submit new maps based on their decision.

And the decision before Christmas-that drops these current maps-was fraudulent.

This newly leftist court simply needed a reason. Any reason. To claim the current maps are illegal or unconstitutional, right?

And so-they claimed that there were, quote, ‘municipal islands’ that couldn’t exist, when they’ve existed for decades and decades and aren’t a big deal. They provide no ‘advantage’ or ‘disadvantage’ to anyone. They’ve never been an issue before, in any state or federal court case related to our maps.

It was a farce of a ruling. The four activist leftists on the Supreme Court just want to rig more favorable maps for the democrats: everyone involved, on both sides of the aisle and in the legal community, knows what’s going on here.

So, in Friday- no fewer than seven maps were presented to the courts. Seven. Gov Evers’ team submitted a map, GOP legislative leaders submitted one, as did democrat lawmakers, UW Milwaukee professors, the Wisconsin institute for law and liberty-and a group called ‘law forward’ which is the lefty activist group who initially brought the lawsuit and triggered this court decision.

And of the seven maps- nearly all of them reduce the republican advantage in the state assembly and senate. Some- such as the maps submitted by the republican lawmakers and will- seek to make the least number of changes to the current maps, while eliminating the so-called municipal islands.

The obvious thing to do with those areas, is to simply add them into an existing district that abuts them. Correct?

It’s logical. It takes care of the problem that the Supreme Court leftists-pretend- to see, here. If this was an honest court, they’d adopt one of them.

What do the other five maps do?

Well-they are some versions of ‘blowing up’ the current maps and wildly redrawing the existing maps to give democrats the biggest advantage possible.

And now, the court will pretend to review these different maps before a march 15th deadline to enact new districts in time for the august legislative primary.

These four liberals on the court are only going to pretend to do some sort of analysis or ‘due diligence’ here, before they pick the map that their political masters tell them to select.

That’s how this will go.

Oh- they are pretending to be fair, sure.

They are pretending that they don’t have their minds made up yet. But they do.

In that decision before Christmas to overturn the current maps, the justices said they were prepared to-quote- replace the state’s current maps if Gov Evers and the legislature cannot agree on a new plan. If that’s the case, the court will consider the partisan makeup of the new map.

If they’re forced to step in.

Well, come on. What is the incentive for Governor Evers and Governor Gau, to accept an agreement with republican lawmakers?

The court essentially said, if you can’t work it out, we’ll step in and do it.

Why would Evers and the democrats have-any interest-in compromising over tweaks to the current maps, when their activists have paid tens of millions of dollars to take control of this state’s supreme court and fill it with rabid left-wing activists?

Gov Evers has-zero-incentive to cooperate.

As such, his team has put out new replacement maps that are beyond ridiculous.

One thing they do, is they intentionally take some lawmakers in odd numbered districts and label them as an even number.

Why would they do that?

Well-because every two years-half of the senators are up for re-election.

They serve four-year terms, but every two years, half of them are up, in a staggered system for

Re-election. It’s a system that works fine.

But-see, democrats believe that there are more republicans who are vulnerable- serving in odd-numbered districts.

The dems think there are more winnable odd-number districts than even number districts.

And so, in the Evers map, they’re literally renumbering the districts to make sure they can take on the most vulnerable GOP members.

Pretty scummy. As an official from Wisconsin manufacturers and commerce put it on ‘X’.

Another raw political power play. It has the same effect as overturning their elections from 2022. They’d be forced to turn around and run again in just two years-instead of four.

Another thing Gov Evers’ maps do-as expected-they try to lump current republicans together in the same district, geographically, so that they’d have to run against each other to keep their seat.

Understand?

Jr Ross and I have been talking about this as it relates to speaker Robin Vos: will the democrats and their accomplices on the supreme court adopt maps that erase speaker Vos’s district, or force a different republican into it?

The answer, we now know, is ‘yes’. They tried.

But in a fun turn of events, it looks like the liberal experts who Evers had drawing his maps didn’t know what house a neighboring senator lived in. Hence, it looks like they tried to force Tyler August and Robin Vos into a ‘showdown’ situation.... but...Tyler August has recently moved and so, the dems drew the wrong house and street-into the new maps.

Do’h!

August told Wisconsin right now that he’s moved three times within a few years-all within his same district-

But it’s the house that he-last lived in- that these democrat map drawers dumped into Robin Vow’s district. Not the one he’s currently living in.

The net result is that august would still be sharing a new district with an existing lawmaker, but it would be Amanda Nedweski.

As August told Wisconsin Right Now:

“It’s obvious what they’re doing,” he said of Evers and his map-drawing team. “We still have to look at the maps as a whole. I am sure there are a lot of pairings of Republicans. It’s clearly a political move even if they made a mistake and got it wrong, even if they were using the maps to try to get rid of me and Robin. I believe they were trying to put us together and made a mistake.”

However, “even if they had my address correct, by putting me in with another incumbent where I have a small percentage of the new district, it makes it clear they are making it as difficult on me as possible”

Why would Evers’ team be targeting Tyler August? Because he’s in Robin Vos’ leadership team and is the heir apparent to Vos when he leaves the speakers job. That’s why.

It answers the question; how desperate are Wisconsin democrats to win at all costs?

So desperate that they are targeting the-back up quarterback- of the assembly republicans.

This would be like the bears putting out a hit on Jordan Love before he could take over for Aaron Rodgers.

This map issue gets complicated and technical...and there’s all sorts of wrangling ahead yet-

But the mission is clear: WI dems-bought- control of the Wisconsin supreme court. They paid a heavy price, and it took tens of millions of dollars in outside money-

And money from national donors and leftists outside the state-  and now they want their rigged maps from Protosawitz, Rebecca Dallet, and Jill Karovski, in return for their investment.
