Capitol arrests show more hypocrisy

Jay Weber Show transcript 1-3-23 7:40 am

I want to make it clear, here, that I did not oppose the move to criminally charge some of the Jan sixth rioters at the US Capitol.

In fact, I found it important that some of them-who engaged in acts of violence or committed property damage- be charged with the crimes.

However- it shouldn’t even be controversial to say that Merrick Garland and his federal prosecutors went way, way, way too far in their efforts to arrest and punish people who didn’t do any property damage or break any laws.

There has been way too much ‘over-charging’ and unconstitutional, long-term imprisonment, and looking for ticky-tack reasons to charge people thru-out this process of holding people accountable for January sixth.

I have a stat here that’s going to shock you.

I do not support the way the feds-at the direction of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and the DC democrats- went about this. The entirety of their actions constitutes a major overreaction to what was -in truth- a rather minor event.

When it comes to riots?  Be honest-that was minor.

And i understand the importance of the location and the fact that this was an attack on the capitol and made lawmakers feel as if they were under attack makes it far more serious than just a few dozen rioters doing actual damage...

But...compared to the never-ending nights of destruction, mayhem, property crimes, and even beatings and murders that these very same democrats wanted to call ‘free speech’ during the trump era.... The Jan sixth riot was ‘nothing’.

Let’s be honest.

And yet, when the rioters, looters, and thugs were rioting on behalf of quote ‘democrat’ causes...the liberal mayors, governors, DA’s and judges made every excuse they could think of to-not- arrest and prosecute rioters, correct?

They even invented a phrase to explain why they had police officers stand down and only watch from a difference: these antifa and BLM thugs needed to be given ‘room to riot’...correct?

The democrats acted like this was just a national catharsis. The crime and property destruction were just some frustration being released and it was healthy...

Correct?

And in the few instances in which police officers were allowed to arrest the worst of the rioters-what happened?

The das, judges, and local leaders went out of their way to drop all the charges and release them, or at the worst, make them pay a little fine. In fact, our sitting vice president made a big deal out of donating money and funding efforts to pay the fines of these rioters because they were...rioting for democracy...or some such thing.

Remember Kammy? Helping to get looters, vandals, and thugs out of local jails?

And so-I think this statistic will shock you: now that the prosecutions related to January sixth have finally given us a peak into what they’ve been doing...the justice department is saying that – so far-they charged over 900 people in connection to the attack on the capitol...and hundreds more are still to be charged.

So far- they have extracted guilty pleas from over 450 of those US citizens...before they were released and allowed to move on with their lives.

And of the more than 900 processed so far? About 200 are serving jail or prison time.

And again-clearly some of them deserved to be criminally charged-but over 1000 people?

Come on. I understand lawmakers were under threat.... but....

Other American citizens were murdered and beaten during the BLM riots...and those killers and attackers still walk free. The democrat prosecutors in those cities never even went after them.

No one died at the capitol that day, and there were only a few injuries to law enforcers. A thousand people need to be arrested and charged?

Talk about yet another -wildly disproportionate response- by the hypocritical democrats.

The justice department-when motivated- can hunt down nearly 1000 faces out of a crowd and criminally charge them...and hold a good number of them indefinitely...until they get forced admissions of guilt or prison sentences?

But this same justice department has zero interest in finding and prosecuting left wing rioters who were-on video- burning down businesses- kicking conservatives to death in the streets- attacking anyone with a MAGA hat-- shooting into crowds...etc.

This same justice department and local democrat das had-zero interest? - in any of that criminality?

Wow.

If this doesn’t prove that we aren’t already living in two very different Americas with two very different standards of justice...i don’t know what does.

This is crazy. And the stats, themselves, speak to the motivations and the clear thuggery that was exhibited by these federal prosecutors...to ‘follow the orders’ the democrats had given them.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer watched for more than a year as thugs on their own side of the aisle burned down parts of our major cities and literally kicked people to death in the streets...but by god...every last capitol rioter had to be tracked down and punished. Even if they hadn’t really done anything warranting the time, effort, or expense by the prosecutors.

When it comes to a relative handful of conservative rioters by god...spare no taxpayer expense to bring them to justice and toss the book at them until they squeal.

But...when it comes to leftist rioters. Literal anarchists and racist BLM members- aw, let ‘em riot. Hold them accountable for nothing.

These stats? Which the Biden justice department puts out as a boast? Should be infuriating to all Americans.

They just proved that they could target and punish rioters when they want to...  And they also proved that they would go out of their way to punish protestors they disagree with...while giving those on their own side of the aisle a free pass.

Folks-this conviction rate of 99.8 percent is nearly 8 points higher than the justice department’s overall conviction rate!

The feds get a conviction in 92 percent of their cases, on average, but by God, they were going to arrest, strong arm, and keep locked up, any capitol protestor they could find.

And they say they could charge hundreds more still to come.
