This Week's Weird News 12/6/24

A bevy of UFO sightings in the United States and beyond, a Thai village 'haunted' by a man who fell in a well, and an ill-advised scattering of ashes aboard Disney's Haunted Mansion ride were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.

Leaving us hoping that we're not on the cusp of an alien invasion, this past week saw a slew of UFO videos in the news. First, in California, a witness captured thermal footage of two odd objects flying through the sky in tandem. Meanwhile, photos and a video of an odd orb purportedly spotted by a pilot at an airport in Britain caused a stir online. Following that, Texas found itself with multiple curious cases, including a boomerang-like UFO filmed by a bewildered witness in San Antonio and mysterious lights that two separate pilots reported to air traffic control as they were flying toward Dallas.

Making headlines this past week was an odd 'haunting' case wherein a ghost tormenting a Thai village wound up being a man in distress. The strange situation started when unsettling wails began emanating from a nearby forest. For three days, the cries grew increasingly unnerving, so much so that residents refused to leave their homes after dark or visit the wooded area out of fear that the sounds were coming from sinister spirits. When word of the weird panic reached the authorities, police were dispatched to investigate. Shortly after venturing into the forest, they discovered that the 'ghost' was actually an unfortunate man who had fallen into a disused well.

Walt Disney World found its way into the weird news this past week when the park's popular Haunted Mansion ride had to be briefly shut down after a misguided guest decided to spread their loved one's ashes on the beloved attraction. Revealed by an irritated visitor who posted about the experience on Reddit, the macabre incident caused the site to be evacuated so that the human remains could be removed and the area thoroughly cleaned. The peeved parkgoer understandably lambasted the individual responsible for ruining everyone else's ride while also excoriating them for the thoughtlessness of leaving their loved one's remains to be essentially tossed in the trash.
