Newt Gingrich says we should be able to kill anyone behind this ransom ware attack on the southern pipeline.
Now...now....hear him out.
I agree with him. This is the first sort of cyber attack that we have seen on our energy infrastructure of this sort and it is a warning and a wake-up call.
There have been national security experts warning for decades that we, in America, have not protected our electric grids or our energy systems from cyber attack, and that such attacks on this country from a foreign enemy could bring down the country...if the attackers were motivated.
For decades- there have been calls to better secure our systems and infrastructure from cyber attack- from government systems like the military and state department....to public/private systems like the electric and energy grids- the computer era -does- make us more vulnerable to mass-scale attacks in which one good cyber attack could cripple the entire country, or the eastern seaboard, where most of our federal government infrastructure is.
This is a serious wake-up call, and i am convinced that if this had happened on Donald Trump’s watch, it would be being blown up into a much larger and more worrisome issue. As it should be.
Instead, the MSM and the Biden acolytes are treating this as if it’s only -a bit concerning-that hackers have shut down a main pipeline that feeds much of the southeast.
One dimwit on team Biden even said Monday that the decision on whether to pay the ransom ware attackers the ransom...in order to get control back was a quote...private sector decision.
As if this wasn’t also an attack on the US government...or the country at large.
Imagine that: the Biden administration’s official position on whether or not to pay ransom to a hacker gang that’s trying to extort a US company and has shut down 45% of the east coast’s gasoline is, well, that’s a private sector decision.
The Biden regime isn’t taking this seriously, as a worrisome national security threat.
Newt Gingrich is. He sees it more clearly for what it is: the start of what could be more-and more frequent-attacks on our energy infrastructure if we don’t take this seriously and respond accordingly.
And as part of that response, he says, congress should pass a law categorizing any such cyber attack as an ‘act of war’...and should give the attackers the death penalty....
As well as give the president the authority to strike back and kill these attackers in their home countries, if necessary.
I agree. Make the consequences severe-right away-and make an example of the next cyber attackers by following thru on criminal investigations and either prosecution here in the states...or death by drone strike...to mete out the justice elsewhere.
These hackers behind ‘darkside’, the organization responsible for this, are already scampering around and insisting it wasn’t them.
Well-their entire business model is to -sell- their ransom ware on the dark web to other scumbag entities, who then use it to attack corporations or the wealthy and demand ransom for access to their own intellectual property and business information.
These hackers are scumbags, even if they want to wrap themselves up in some sort of ‘social justice’ or ‘freedom fighter’ wrapper. What they are doing is illegal and their work here ....their ransom ware has resulted in an attack on the u-s energy grid of the sort that -cannot-be tolerated.
Look at how easy it was for them to close down nearly 6-thousand miles of pipeline and cause crippling gas shortages in the entire southeastern portion of the country.
And that was just -one-ransom ware attack. Imagine what motivated hackers sponsored by our foreign enemies could do...if we do not secure our energy grids as some experts have been begging administrations to do-at least since the Clinton administration.
No one in government has taken this seriously or really done much about it, in decades. Our energy infrastructure remains as vulnerable as it ever was, apparently.
I cannot imagine what sort of national alarm and crisis this would be- if Donald Trump were still president-and we didn’t have an accomplice media that is-literally- willing to make any excuse for the current regime and it’s rank incompetence.
Folks- the Middle East is now going to hell. Iran is buzzing our military ships in the gulf, and a newly energized Hamas is lobbing hundreds of rockets into Israel...and President Biden is standing silent.
As Ben Schapiro tweeted yesterday:
Joe Biden inherited: a working vaccine, a vaccine distribution plan, an economy set to boom, and peace breaking out in the Middle East.
In his first three months, he has produced: deep vaccine hesitancy, a dramatically underperforming economy, and a Middle East war.
Three months in, Biden’s administration is a cluster-farce.
The attack on this pipeline has gas up over three dollars a gallon in much of the country this morning, and has Biden’s energy secretary and state’s Attorney General warning gas station owners against price gouging.
My god. We really are -right back in the Carter era.
Who knew this nation could slide so far, so fast, in less than 120 days, under new management.
By God, Biden and the democrats pulled it off.
And look-this is just a temporary supply issue. We don’t have a gas shortage, like in the carter era. Presumably, colonial pipeline can have this back on-line later today....and can quickly ramp back up. These are temporary shortages in the southeast that should be back to normal in days...
But...
We are learning that the ‘new normal’ for gas prices in the Biden era is at least three dollars an hour...not the two dollars an hour we enjoyed during the trump years.
And it-hasn’t been- a crippled pipeline that has been driving prices higher. Republican lawmakers were right to spend the day yesterday talking about how Biden’s entire energy policy is a job and economy killer.
This temporary gas shortages just gave them the opportunity.
The former lefty governor- Jennifer Granholm- is now Biden’s energy secretary, and she actually told reporters yesterday that the pipeline was the best way to transport fuel.
D’oh!
She admitted it!
She was talking about the administration trying to coordinate rail cars and tanker trucks-even tanker ships- to carry much needed gas around the south... To deliver it to where it was needed. And as part of that, she said, that’s why pipes are the best way to move it around.
Exactly! No kidding! So why are you buying into the eco-zealot’s nonsense and killing off vital pipeline projects?
That’s a question that the room full of left wing propagandists masquerading as reporters never thought to ask her.
But back to the original point: this should be a huge wake-up call for this country and for this administration.
And if we had a responsible, skeptical press-they would be fulfilling their role as the so-called ‘fourth estate’ and they would be pressing president Biden and his administration to take this attack seriously, and to see it for what it is: the first major cyber attack on our energy grid -of the sort that national security experts have been warning about for decades.
Such attacks are more possible and realistic now than they have ever been. So darn it- take it seriously. Game out a strategy to protect our energy grids and infrastructure-and work with congress to pass new laws to punish global bad actors...as Gingrich suggests.
Look at how crippling to the country the Texas power outage was when turbines froze-and what ripple effect that caused around the country, and in our plastics and electronics industries.
Now this cyber-attack.
The socialists are interested in is their plan to force socialism onto this country. The daily threats to this country, both foreign and domestic, Biden is ignoring.
