There was another embarrassing Joe Biden moment this weekend, after the senate had managed to ram thru his two-trillion dollar raid on the US treasury....
Team Biden was so lost in the celebration, and so certain that this signified some sort of historical win for them, that they let their guard down and actually thought that Biden could make his way thru a ten minute scripted speech.
He couldn’t.
Folks-even reading for ten or fifteen minutes off of a teleprompter without screwing it up-is too much for Joe Biden now.
And it is why this white house has no intention of allowing Joe Biden to give a lengthy state of the union address or take questions that haven’t already been pre-screened in a press conference.
The pressure has been growing on Biden to do both of those things, but every time we see the guy out in public, you can see that he’s not up to it.
And this-does-matter, my friends.
Foreign leaders-and leaders of our enemy countries-have got to know that Biden is not the one calling the shots.
And it looks more and more like no one is. Because daily crises’ aren’t being solved and pressing foreign policy questions aren’t being addressed.
But on Saturday: a speech using the smallest, simplest words possible was loaded into the teleprompter. I’m sure Jill spent some time reading it over with joe ahead of time...and still...Biden got lost in it several times.
Here’s the worst instance, in which not only did Biden not know what he was reading...but listen to how clear it is that Biden doesn’t even know what the script is-supposed- to say.
As a guy who does three hours of radio each day, yes, I will sometimes get lost in my notes. Or forget what I typed out-
But I always know what topic I’m on and the point I want to make and where the conversation is going.
What you will hear here-is a man who has no idea what the larger context of the speech is...or what his overall point is.
That’s bad. That is-really- embarrassing.
And in all honesty- sometimes- Joe Biden seems to be ‘with it’, and sometimes he doesn’t.
This is how it is appearing to me- about 50 days into his presidency, now. And I don’t know enough about dementia or memory loss to speak to whether patients really do have ‘good days’ and ‘bad days’....
But it looks to me like-whatever form of memory loss and cognitive dysfunction Biden has- he has good days and bad days.
And i swear, i can tell by the eyes.
Some days, he looks like he’s ‘with it’ and on the ball and clearly and intelligently responding to questions and what’s going on around him-
And other days- his eyes look vacant-and he looks lost and startled at every question or turn of events.
I don’t know if dementia patients can have such stark shifts-where Biden seems fine one day and lost the next.
I don’t know if it’s’ a mix of medication that is the culprit. But this man is not okay.And his handlers aren’t going to be able to hide it much longer.
Joe seems to be fading fast, and even if-last fall-they thought they could ‘manage this’ for four years, I’d be surprised if they think that same way now.
Being the president of the United States is markedly different than being the president of Russia or China or just about any other country. A regime in trouble cannot just hide a dead or failing leader from the public in America, as they can in those other countries.
An American president is expected to be seen and heard from-daily.And he’s expected to participate in all sorts of events that spring up in the moment-as well as those planned, larger events on the annual calendar-
Like giving a state of the union address.
And so, Biden’s team of handlers has got to know that they cannot keep this from the public much longer. This no longer looks like a man who can go for four months, much less four years.
They’ve got to have some date in mind in which they are hoping to keep up this charade...before they trot out a 25th amendment argument.
They cannot go about leading him around by the coat sleeve for an entire year yet.
Not a chance.
Folks, if you haven’t noticed this-Biden’s team sets up Joe to do ‘zoom’ interviews with reporters...and they start with a tighter shot on Joe...and they let him go as long as he can go ...and appear ‘with it’ and normal...
But there are moments in which there is clearly someone just off camera slipping him notes. Because he’ll look down a lot..
And there are other times that Jill Biden’s voice chimes in....and then whoever is at the white house controlling the view...will widen out to reveal that Jill Biden was sitting there, at Joe’s elbow, the entire time.
And now, suddenly, it’s a two person interview.
Why would they be trying to hide the fact that Jill Biden is nearly always at Joe’s elbow-if they weren’t trying to hide the truth?
Why start out-trying to trick the public- and then-only if they have to- admit Joe is getting all sorts of off-camera help?
Do you know that Joe Biden has already made history-twice- by avoiding speeches?
For the first time ever- a president did not give a ‘first address to congress’ upon being elected, and, he is now the first president to go over 40 days to kick off his admin without giving a press conference...
And if we wait a week or two...he may become the first president of the electronic era to not give a state of the union speech.
Originally-states of the union were written only, but in 1913, Woodrow Wilson decided to give his speech in person...FDR was the first to broadcast it on the radio- and at no time since has a president just-skipped it, or submitted it in writing.
And so- if Joe Biden isn’t up to the task- and they skip it- that would constitute several historical firsts, as well.
Every member of congress-and Biden himself-has been vaccinated, so they can’t blame it on covid-19, and not wanting to have a large gathering.
They could try to pre-tape it on a lucid day, I suppose. That might be their next attempt. But-presidential addresses are always given ‘live’.
I bet this is quite a conundrum for team Biden: how do we handle the state of the union?
Do they just pick a day and hope that it’s a good, lucid, day for Biden?
Does his sundown? Because the speech is always given in the evening...so if he sundowns like some dementia patients...a night time speech is out.
How long can they keep this up?
On Friday- Jen Psaki tried to claim that Biden hadn’t had a news conference yet because he’s so busy dealing with ‘historic crises’...
And so I’ll say it again’: America-is not- facing any crises. Certainly not that haven’t been invented by the democrats, themselves.
What ‘historic crises’ are we facing?
They always start with global warming-which is crap- so...next?
Covid-19
Nope. That’s under control. Clearly. And they are using trump’s plan because Biden lied his way into office and never really did have one. That’s now a known fact.
What other crises?
Folks-thanks to Donald Trump, we are in a rare period in which there aren’t even any foreign crises!
The evil butterball in North Korea has been quiet. Russia and china aren’t being belligerent. Trump’s moves all-but ended terror attacks which Joe Biden’s moves will now revive.
Biden has-created-a new border crisis...
But....America is not facing historical crises.
The truth is that Joe Biden inherited a quieter, healthier America than most president’s do.
For heaven’s sake, people- even barrack Obama inherited an economic crisis. Joe Biden hasn’t inherited any crises.
At least not any that aren’t fake, like climate change, or weren’t created by himself- like at the border.
So-if they are covering for Joe-who is running this country?
And this is no laughing matter. Leadership of the free world appears to be on auto-pilot.
