Car fees across Wisconsin will skyrocket on Oct. 1. Titling fees will more than double while registration fees are also going up. The costs affect all drivers equally, regardless of the value of their car. Some states charge staggered fees based on the car's purchase price.
It will cost the same to register an older car worth a few thousand dollars as it does a new car worth a $100,000 or more.
Fees for owning hybrid electric vehicles are also more than doubling. The hybrid electric vehicle registration is increasing from $75 to $85. But the DMV will also add a new $75 surcharge for hybrid electric vehicles.
