Tony Bennett Retiring From Performing at 95.

Tony Bennett is hanging up his microphone. According to Variety, his son Danny, who is also the senior Bennett's manager, said "There won't be any additional concerts ... doctors' orders." Earlier this year, it was revealed the "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" singer had been battling Alzheimer's disease since 2016. The 95-year-old Bennett performed two shows last week at Radio City Music Hall in New York City with Lady Gaga. A planned Fall 2021 tour has been canceled.

I've had the chance to see Mr. Bennett a couple of times through the years. The last time at the Pabst Theater here in Milwaukee. The last time about 15 years ago. Here's this 80 year old crooner with a pianist bassist and drummer. Half way through his set he turns to the band and said they could take a break. Then he turns to the audience and asks if they wouldn't mind if he would put down his microphone and sing a song. Wow!. He belts out "Fly Me To The Moon" acapella and fills the Pabst up to the rafters. Old school and wonderful.
