The world is objectively better now. Just look at it.

Liberals, progressives, the new Left, whatever you want to call them, most of the people who make up the other political party in this country are miserable.

Look at them. Listen to them. Watch their TV shows or movies. These are not happy people.

Young people in particular, Millennials and Gen Zers, seem to be the most miserable. And it’s no wonder.

They have been told for years that the planet is dying, the patriarchy is omnipresent, college is a rape factory, marriage is subjugation, a traditional family is sexism and homophobic, and the world is generally a terrible place.

They could not be more wrong.

In 2021, life expectancy is up. More people across the globe are safe, fed, and out of abject poverty. In the U.S. there is a wealth gap, but more people are living with air conditioners, fuel efficient cars, cell phones, high speed internet, and a good meal than ever before. We can connect with people across the globe in an instant. We see each other for our differences, not because of them.

But still, young people in this country are miserable.

Bill Maher hit the same idea on his show on Friday. He said young liberals are miserable because they refuse to see the progress that this country has made.

There is a [repetitive] theme on the far Left that things have never been worse. Kevin Hart expressed a view many hold when he told The New York Times, ‘You’re witnessing white power and white privilege at an all-time high,” Maher said.

“[S]aying white power and privilege is at an all-time high is just ridiculous.”

“Higher than a century ago? The year of the Tulsa race massacre? Higher than the years when the KKK rode unchecked and Jim Crow went unchallenged? Higher than the 1960s when The Supremes and Willie Mays still couldn’t stay in the same hotel as the white people they were working with?”

“Higher than slavery?” “And I mean actual slavery, not ‘Prince doesn’t like his record contract’ slavery.”

In Milwaukee, the heads of MPS’s school board led a protest on Saturday in favor of critical race theory.

From the Journal Sentinel:

The rally was part of a nationwide Day of Action to "Teach the Truth" and was hosted by Bob Peterson and Sequanna Taylor, president and vice president respectively of the Milwaukee Public Schools board.

"The fact that there are so many state legislatures considering legislation that will suppress the teaching of racism and sexism and even prohibit professional training in those areas was, in my mind, outrageous, and had to be publicly denounced," Peterson said.

Keep in mind that over half of kids in Milwaukee public schools are ‘below basic’ in math and science. Proficiency in some Milwaukee high schools is in the single digits.

The kids in MPS can’t read or write how they are supposed to, but MPS leaders want to teach them about racial grievances and tell students that they are the victims of straight white people.

This is how you have an angry, radical, and largely useless generation.

No wonder young people are so miserable and angry. They have been told the world sucks, that the world is out to get them, and that they are victims since they first entered school. And because those same schools failed to teach them how to read, these young people can’t find the evidence that the world is better than ever on their own.

If you teach young people that racism, sexism, and other isms are everywhere, you can’t be surprised when that’s all they see.
