Gwen Moore should get back to work after her coronavirus positive

If the Democrats didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

Yes, Milwaukee Congresswoman Gwen Moore has been one of the biggest fear mongers of the coronavirus outbreak. She has scared people, blamed the sick, and accused Republicans or anyone who wants to get back to work as willing to kill innocent babies.

Moore is being blasted for going back to Washington D.C. less than two weeks after testing positive for the virus.

From The Hill:

House Republicans are attacking Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats after Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) tested positive for COVID-19 but arrived at the Capitol on Sunday in order to cast her vote for Speaker.

“Pelosi is putting the public’s health at risk to keep herself in power,” tweeted conservative Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.).

“Looks like @SpeakerPelosi's proxy voting and remote hearing measures are only essential when her leadership position isn't on the line,” Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) added in a separate tweet.

Moore announced she had tested positive on Dec. 28. But in a tweet Sunday, she said she had completed her quarantine and is “medically cleared to travel and work on behalf of Wisconsin’s Fourth Congressional District.”

Revised Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines state that quarantines after a positive test can be cut to seven or 10 days.

Moore said last week that she is feeling fine. She said she is ready to get back to work. And she should.

Gwen Moore is 69 years old. She, like most of us, likely has some age related health concerns. She is among those who are most at risk from the coronavirus. But she, by all accounts, beat it. She is feeling fine, no illness, no hospitalization, nothing. Why shouldn’t she get back to work? Why should everyone who’s been cleared for work get back to work? Teachers should be back in school bars and restaurants should be open for business, Miller Park (sorry, AmFam Field) should open on Opening Day. Over 93 percent of people who’ve tested positive for the virus in Wisconsin have beaten it. We should be at least 93 percent back to normal.

I understand that the hypocrisy is frustrating. Again, these are Democrats. But we’ve been pushing for a reopening for months now, we have demanded a common sense approach to the virus. Gwen Moore may be selfish, but her approach is a lot closer to common sense than what we’ve seen from other Democrats. We should take her at her word. She feels great and is ready to get back to work. So are we.
