Why is Gov Evers doubling down on holiday coronavirus fear?

We are a week away from Christmas Eve, and on que Governor Evers is once again trying to scare people.

He calls it being safe, but in reality Governor Evers is really just trying to scare people about the coronavirus.

Evers appeared in a video this week with a half dozen or so other Midwestern governors. They all are pushing people to stay home for the holidays, and most importantly stay away from others.

“This may be the most difficult time yet in our struggle with COVID-19, especially with the holidays approaching. Until the vaccine is available to everyone and until we eradicate this virus once and for all, we must continue working to protect one another,” the governors said. “The science is settled: The best way we can protect our frontline workers and slow the spread of this virus is to double down on mask wearing, social distancing, and washing hands frequently. If you are planning to travel or gather with other households for the holidays – we urge you to reconsider. Just one infection can cause an outbreak in your community, which could overwhelm our hospitals and put you and your loved ones at risk. We owe it to the brave men and women serving on the front lines of this pandemic to do our part and be smart this holiday season.”

This is the same message we heard before Thanksgiving. Stay home. Stay isolated. Stay afraid.

But why?

Wisconsin’s latest coronavirus report shows we never saw the post-Thanksgiving outbreak that Governor Evers predicted. In fact, the numbers are going the other way.

The virus, as the science tells us, is only truy dangerous for a select few. The old and the sick are most at risk, everyone else will almost certainly survive.

So why is Governor Evers telling everyone to stay home? Why not suggest grandma and grandpa sit this one out, while the rest of the family gets together?

Because of fear. Fear is a motivator. Fight or flight is real. The governor wants people to take flight, he wants them to run home and stay home so he can do what he wants in this state.

The holidays are supposed to be about family and faith (two things the Left has hated for years), and this year most of all we need both. We need the human connection and the spiritual connection that comes with our holiday traditions.

That Governor Evers doesn’t see that, or worse doesn’t care, says something.

So this holiday, whether that’s Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, or something else; spend time with your family and friends and raise a cup of cheer. A lot of us need that to end 2020.
