Just say Merry Christmas

It’s that time of year again. The time when the Left gets angry about saying Merry Christmas.

Each year we get one story after another of some Karen who gets offended because someone says Merry Christmas, as opposed to Happy Holidays or Joyous December.

The latest story is from the Attorney General of Michigan.

The DailyWire has the story.

Michigan Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a tweet (later deleted) in which she claimed her son had been “devastated” when an employee at a store wished them a “Merry Christmas.”

Nessel tweeted that after her son asked her if they were the only Americans who didn’t celebrate Christmas, she told him, “No, and we are just as American as everyone else.”

Nessel later issued another tweet, writing, “Saying ‘Happy Holidays’ this time of year does not denigrate Christianity. It simply acknowledges and respects the great diversity of our nation and includes each and everyone of us who call ourselves proud Americans.”

As you would expect, Twitter went hard on Nessel.

Here’s the thing, as a Christian I want people to wish me a Merry Christmas. Not because I want to ‘win’ some argument, but because Christmas is part of my faith.

If I wish you Merry Christmas and you are Jewish, say that so I can wish you a Happy Hanukkah. Same thing is Islam, or Buddhism, or any other religion.

Tell me what your faith is, chances are I may ask a little more about it. Next thing you know we are having a conversation. After that we will probably discover that there is a lot more that we have in common (food, family, faith, gifts, whatever) than we disagree on.

That is why celebrating your holiday is important. It tells your neighbors who you are.

But the Left doesn’t just hate Christmas. They hate faith.

The Left will claim it wants you to say Happy Holidays as a way to be inclusive. Nope. Inclusive means wishing people a Happy Hanukkah or a Joyous Kwanzaa, or whatever your religion is. Recognizing faith is what holidays (or holy days) are all about.

The Left hates faith. They particularly hate Christianity, but all faith is suspect in their eyes. Faith diverts your attention from earthly things like government and elections. Faith pushes you to be a stronger and better person, anathema to the Left. And faith, of all types, leads to core beliefs about men, women, children, sex, and the way the world should work.

So this holiday season stand-up to the faith hating Left. Wish a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, and the rest. You never know, you may just make someone’s day brighter and better.
