Evers Uses Veto Pen To Increase School Spending By $90M In State Budget

The most impactful veto came in K-12 funding. He increased the per-pupil aid amount to $742 in each of the next two years, up from the $679 and $704 the Legislature had in the budget. That will result in an $87 million increase for schools above the roughly $500 million more in the budget as passed.

The governor also used his veto pen to eliminate a cap imposed in the budget on the amount of state money that can be used for Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes' security detail.
