Yes, this was the stupid thing I was rollerblading around when I wiped out. What purpose could this possibly serve? None. If anything, it OBSTRUCTS a skater (me!), forcing an unnecessary turn for someone who wants to go straight. If you have limited skills navigating turns on skates, it can cause you to lose control (yep, that happened to me, too!) But mostly, it's just a place to put a little green grass and prairie plants.
