Jay Weber Show transcript 12-16-24
Do you know that both CNN and MSNBC are both in sustained ratings funk? And a major one?
We all saw their ratings tank in the days immediately following the presidential election. That was somewhat expected, even if the levels on which their ratings dropped were shocking: 40 to 60 percent with some of the most important demos being down as much as 70 percent for some shows.
That drop off was significant- but-
But-it had to be expected that their ratings would drop when both -the election came to a resolution-
And- their side lost.
This is the natural pattern of things in broadcast radio and tv: our ratings naturally rise in an election year -and might even spike- in a hard fought or historically significant campaign of the sort we’ve just seen.
If ‘any’ election captures the attention of the nation, people are going to seek out coverage and our ratings on talk radio and on cable tv are going to increase. Correct? It’s only logical.
Well-the converse is true: once the ‘big questions’ are resolved, and the excitement is over- our ratings tend to dip again. The people who tuned in to follow the horse race- will often tune back out and go back to a different daily routine.
It's to be expected.
That said-
No one expected that CNN and MSNBC’s ratings wouldn’t bounce back- for the most part.
I didn’t expect their ratings to come roaring back to 2023 levels, necessarily, but I did expect that-within a few weeks or months- they’d at least have their core audience back.
That hasn’t happened, my friends.
This suggests to me that there -really has been- a more legitimate shift back toward the center and/or back toward ‘trump’ that the pollsters weren’t measuring earlier this year.
I’d actually put it this way, because i think it’s more accurate: i believe we have seen a genuine shift back toward ‘America’ and patriotism...and pride in our country.
And yes, much of that has to do with Donald Trump and how he messaged and framed his campaign-
But it also has to do-in large part- with how terrible, radical, and incompetent the Biden regime and today’s democrats have proven to be as leaders in this modern era.
It hasn’t just been the last four years that the democrat has been ‘stinking the place up’. This goes back to the BLM and antifa riots...and perhaps further....as the democrat party decided to embrace the anti-Americanism and extremism of the left-wing kook fringe....and abandon the long-time American ideals that have made this country so great-and so prosperous-and so ‘livable’ for generations.
I don’t want to read too much into the CNN and MSNBC ratings- because they have only been ‘talking to’ tiny slivers of the country -as it is- for years now.
But to see them totally abandoned following this year’s Trump win? Suggests to me that they are the canary altering us to the shifting air in the coal mine.
The bird is perking up. Americas on the rise again.
Further evidence?
Fox News ratings-which also should have gone down simply because the race is over- have instead- gone up twelve percent in prime time.
This is a national shift:
I cannot impress upon you-how sucky and terrible- only having 400 and 600-thousand viewers a night is for these stations, in prime time.
At its most mediocre, MSNBC has at least getting about a million viewers a night over the last several years. CNN probably 700 or 800-thousand.
Now, those ‘already low’ viewership totals have been cut in half.
This is dreadful. To the point that there’s little reason for these networks to continue as they are. Change to DIY programming, or YouTube videos, at this point.
40-year-old clips of carol Burnett ...and kids riding off of roofs in shopping carts...and snakes eating kittens... And all that useless junk you see on YouTube gets more viewers per day than CNN and MSNBC seem to be doing, currently.
These ratings are causing the people-on the CNN and MSNBC shows- to despair, and since they are often setting the tone for the dc and east coast elites, their coverage is adding to the larger sense of despair among the dc and NY elite classes.
Listen to van jones, who has been the messenger of doom for MSNBC since election day. He’s finally figured out that ‘they’ don’t matter to most Americans. Most Americans are not listening to us.
Van jones is correct on everything other than his list of influential people. No one over the age of 16 with an IQ over 160 knows who any of those people are....
But Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Logan and Jake Paul...sure.
And there was a point at which the relentless smearing and trashing and vilifying of Donald Trump actually caused a back-lash reaction across the country in which all sorts of people-from all walks of life- decided that if the democrats were going to be -so, so- unfair to this guy....that they-as regular old ordinary people-were going to give him a chance. Try to figure out what was so terrible about this man or why so many dc elites and political figures hated Donald trump.
It backfired big time on them-and living in their own little leftist bubbles- they never saw it coming. Some of us on the right didn’t, either, simply because we were also ‘too close to it’. Too close to the anti-trump action.
Here’s another thing: I tell you, folks, at this point: the dozens of congressional democrats who say they are going to boycott the second trump inauguration, too, are only harming their own reputations, and/or only making themselves look small.
This is really ‘being stuck on stupid’ if they still haven’t figured this out.
Well then, they are going to be stewing in those hateful juices- alone- on January 20th, and if the first few months of Donald Trump’s second term are as successful as I expect them to be-
If they are as ‘responsive’ to the American people’s needs as trump has promised they will be-
Then- i suspect these petty little democrats are going to find themselves more and more alone...and more and more ‘apart’ from what’s going on with the rest of the country...if they really think political pouting is going to work for them- or be at all satisfying.
