Yesterday-as expected-governor Tony Evers vetoed a bill that had been passed by republican lawmakers that would have protected Wisconsin’s youth from transgender bullies and from the for-profit meat grinder that has popped up in the health care industry -labeled ‘transition care’.
This is a shameful veto. It goes against what how at least 2/3 of Wisconsinites feel about this issue, and GOP should be stoking the outrage on this one. Because it’s genuine.
“Further, and especially important to me personally, I am vetoing this bill in its entirety because I object to the Legislature’s ongoing efforts to manufacture and perpetuate false, hateful, and discriminatory anti-LGBTQ policies and rhetoric in our state,”
How is feeding a kid’s hormone or whacking off genitals ‘life saving care’? That’s his first lie. Then he follows it up with this:
“This type of legislation, and the rhetoric beget by pursuing it, harms LGBTQ people and kids’ mental health, emboldens anti-LGBTQ hate and violence, and threatens the safety and dignity of LGBTQ Wisconsinites," he said. "I support LGBTQ Wisconsinites, and I will continue to do everything in my power to defend them, protect their rights, and keep them safe.”
No. It doesn’t. And the fact that Gov Evers need to go out of his way to pretend it does-and to invent hysterical scenarios- proves it.
What this bill does-instead of enflaming and confuse these issues-and the political fights surrounding gender confusion and transition- is it tamps them down.
How?
By making it clear: anyone wanting to gender transitions needs to make that decision for themselves-and do it at a reasonable age and level of maturity.
That’s what this legislation would due. And it’s the same language-and position-that all sorts of ‘enlightened’ European countries have taken on these trans issues. Democrats and activist liberals-love-to tell us what the ‘progressives’ in Europe are doing.... but they’re ignoring it in this instance.
As Robin Vos noted on ‘x’ yesterday:
Those are all very ‘progressive’ countries, right?
And why don’t they allow gender transition surgery before the age of 18?
Because it is -reasonable- and makes perfect sense-that such a dramatic life-altering decision be made by people-as adults. Not as confused or impressionable children.
How many stories have we seen over the last two or three years alone, from people who were prodded or forced onto the ‘transition track’ by adults who told them they were gender-confused and that’s what they needed to do?
Most of them presented with mental health issues-and were told: you’re sad, or you’re depressed, or you’re struggling...because you’re really a boy trapped in a girl’s body...and we can fix that?
Many, many stories from people who have reversed their transitions start the same way: I didn’t know I was trapped in the wrong body until I was-told I was- at 8, or 12, or 14....
And then, what are parents and children going to do-in virtually all instances-if a ‘doctor’ tells them something? They’re going to follow the advice: even on something like this.
Well, you’re the expert....
Which is precisely what most parents who are now speaking out about the mistakes they made in forcing their kids to make this decision early-are saying. Even when parents are trying to be advocates for their children and do the right thing-they’ve screwed it up and destroyed their child’s lives. And they’re telling their stories now.
And so-what’s the harm in waiting?
What’s the harm is counseling and nurturing those kids thru puberty and their formative years- and then having them make the call-for themselves-once they’re older?
I know ghoulish doctors don’t get to lop off as many teenaged breasts and penises-but other than that- who’s harmed?
This is another instance in which the left in this country has simply lost their minds-because they’re listening to the loudest nuts and extremists under their tent.
