Dems ram through the tax and inflation raising bill

Jay Weber Show transcript 8-8-22 6:40am

The drama is over- democrats in DC were able to force thru the Schumer/Manchin bill that raises taxes on every American who pays taxes and does nothing to reduce inflation.

It’s sort of remarkable that-every- analysis of this bill that has been done-from both right wing and left wing think tanks. From govt agencies. From economics professors-

Every analysis admits that it either does ‘nothing’ to impact inflation or will make it worse.

I have not seen a single analysis done over the last week that shows Manchin’s bill reduces inflation, as the dems are insisting.

I’m also a little surprised that even reporters from liberal news outlets are asking some good questions about it and are getting snotty, ludicrous answers from these democrats.

The bill passed after dozens of republican attempts to amend it-and three attempts by Bernie sanders that were enough to really hack off his own side of the aisle.

Bernie tried to slide the child tax credit and a few other things into the bill that would have had the effect of killing it off- because it would have caused several democrats to vote against it-and leadership got PO’d at Bernie.

But in the end- in typical Bernie fashion-he didn’t get his way-but he rolled over like a kitten, anyway, and voted in favor of the bill.

Bernie sanders has always been a pretender and a ‘paper socialist’ in DC. What a joke.

Once again- Bernie shrinks at a moment in which he could have made a difference by showing some stones.

And yes, The Democrats rammed forward with it even though 230 economists wrote letters to congress warning that this bill will only make inflation worse

Rabidly left-wing NBC- posted an op-ed from a professor of economics at duke university on their website over the weekend-admitting that Manchin’s bill is awful, and dishonest.

The professor also raps democrats for raising taxes on the claim they are fighting global warming...in a time of recession.

Its’ such a foolish idea that social media sites are replete with video of democrats talking about how dumb it would be to raise taxes during a recession.

You’ve probably heard the Obama cut, but Chuck Schumer is on tape-at least twice- talking about how dumb and counter-productive it would be to raise taxes during out last recession-and here the man is-spearheading a campaign to do it-in this recession.

Rush echoes again: to be a democrat is to be a hypocrite.

Oh-and by the way- those of you who are seniors who were at least excited about getting lower drug prices out of this bill?

It’s not happening.

The senate parliamentarian took out that Chunk on Saturday and said it didn’t fit the requirements of the reconciliation rules.

And so...

Wha...wha... The big promise that Schumer and Manchin were making to seniors to garner support for the bill- doesn’t exist-and some of you got played, again.

So-the only remaining provision related to drug prices in the one that would give govt the authority to engage in price-fixing schemes related to Medicare, but that provision is largely a farce. Any implementation is put off until 2026, and then it starts with ten of the most expensive drugs. It’s more ‘theater’ than ‘policy’.

But if it passes intact, you’ll have these democrats running around, insisting they have lowered drug prices for seniors.

Nope. I’ll be a lie. The provision that might have done it- wasn’t included in the bill.

And so-here’s a political calculation the democrats aren’t making: what happens in fall when -months after they have passed this wonderful bill- drug prices haven’t come down-and- inflation hasn’t dropped?

We’ve had a flood of coverage exposing this bill as a lie- and so-how is this a win for democrats when October and November roll around, and it’s time to vote, and the lie has been more fully exposed to voters?

What happens- when inflation still sucks- after this bill passes?

Democrats are certain that the political environment is improving for them. well...what happens if gas prices start to creep back up...as inflation stays around nine percent?

Swing voters will be asking: where’s the relief, Joe?  Where’s the help you promised?
