The least surprising news of the week is that an ethics complaint has been filed against AOC over her appearance at the 35-thousand dollar per ticket to the Met Gala.
What-is-surprising is that the fallout from this- for Cortez- seems to be snowballing on her-and it’s coming from the socialist progressive side of the aisle.
AOC’s own ‘peeps’ saw this as her betraying the social justice cause. They see this for what it was:this was AOC loving her celebrity and wanting to hob nob with the elites...and she figured she could get away with it if it looked like she wasn’t betraying everything she stands for.
So, she and her designer friend decided to invent a ‘tax the rich’ dress...that was going to give her cover and blunt the criticism.
Everyone saw right thru it: it turns out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is just as big a hypocrite as every other democrat that has come before her. She’s no better than the Clintons, or the Obamas, or Pelosi
All she really wants is fame and power and to run with that rich class of global elites. AOC grew up rich-but she wasn’t in the upper stratus...and so she’s been using her position in congress to put her into that stratosphere. She’s been doing it all along, but it appears that her supporters have finally figured it out.
I read a few accounts that had AOC accepting the ‘swag bag’ that the Hollywood and NY elites often get when they appear at such events.
These can be very pricey gifts that come from sponsors and people who want to influence them. If AOC took that bag of gifts-she absolutely- violated the law.
But I’m saying ‘if’, because even I don’t think AOC would be that openly corrupt and stupid, but, i did read the suggestion in a few stories afterward. That she even got a swag bag.
She would be-required-to decline that- as a member of congress.
The truth is that-either way, though? - those investigations lead, ultimately, to nothing. It’s not like she’s going to be jailed or criminally charged for an ethics violation.
She’d get a slap on the wrist from Pelosi-at best-and that would be the end of it.
The far more serious and interesting fallout will be-if aoc has damaged herself and her own brand, with her socialist supporters.
We are what? Four days past this event?
And Ocasio-Cortez is still being lambasted by members of her own movement as a sell-out. They don’t think the ‘eat the rich’ dress was a serious political statement-nor does it give her a pass on her elitist lifestyle.
And by the way- ‘the rich’ that were attending this event with AOC didn’t take the dress seriously, either.They know their elite status is secure in any sort of Bernie sanders/AOC socialist utopian future- because either way-they are the ruling class that gets to keep their stuff and look down on the poor.
So- the dress was seen as everyone who attended as ‘kitschy’, not as a social statement.
And here’s where AOC’s stunt really went beyond funny: she drew attention to an event in which she-and the privileged few-got to dress up in designer gowns and expensive jewelry and revel in their rich playground fun...while not wearing covid masks...
As the help. The servant class that was there to serve them- did- must wear the masks.
The optics of this were terrible, and once again, these people were so uncaring and out of touch that they didn’t even see it.
The photos and video that got out showed all the servers, hairdressers, gown attenders-
All the servants in the wings- had masks on. The elite attendees did not.
What a perfect visual representation of what today’s democrat leaders and their Hollywood and NY supporters are all about.
And for the record: the met has had a strict mask policy in place for all employees and visitors.
Everyone-vaccinated or not- who enters the met to work or as a visitor-needs to be masked up.
They waived that rule -specifically and narrowly-just for the elite snobs like AOC and Beyonce.
And I’ve explained before how-this group-of young new socialist democrats-
Those that follow AOC and her socialist groups-
Are fiercely obsessed with fairness and following the rules.
Unlike past ‘liberal’ democrats, this new batch of socialist, woke, bullies are obsessed with fairness and everyone following their rules-
And so, yes, they will blast Pelosi and Biden and their own allies if they step out of line. They blasted Gavin Newsom for breaking his own covid rules. Ditto for Pelosi and DeBlasio, etc.
And yes- they will even blast AOC as a traitor to the cause when she proves herself to be a hypocrite. Today’s young progressives are -fully indoctrinated- bullies and crybabies. Yeah.
And so, the ‘masked servant-class has become a bigger topic than any of these met-going lefties expected it to, obviously.
Remember last month...Pelosi hosted an event for wealthy democrat donors in napa...and was blasted by the ‘new left’ for doing so as millions of people faced eviction and ‘the world burned’ from wildfires.
Then there was Obama going ahead with his elite-invite birthday party. It led to the same sort of optics we got from the met gala: a bunch of global elites without masks, pretending it was okay because...as one pundit put it this was a ‘sophisticated crowd’ of vaccinated people. The covid-19 virus knew better than to infect, them, I guess.
As if even the covid-19 virus, in the presence of its ‘betters’, wouldn’t dare ruin the day.
This is how arrogant and insufferable these dc and global elites really are.
One feature of socialism and communism is that-unlike America and capitalistic countries -which have a wide and evident middle class-
Socialist and communist regimes always quickly devolve into countries with two parties: those in good favor with the regime’s dictator leaders-
And the poor, faceless masses.
Venezuela used to have a vibrant middle class. After 25 years of Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Madero, it now has: the Madero-protected elites and the poor, starving masses.
And so- I look at the photos from this met gala and i see them as a ‘preview’ of what a Bernie Sander, AOC style America would really be.
They talk about fairness and equity for all, but every socialist regime becomes the same thing: privileged, protected elites who celebrate themselves and their luxurious lifestyle and the impoverished underclass that serves them.
That. Is what we saw at the met.
That was the visual that so many people found so disturbing. Including so many AOC acolytes.
Well-you dopes-you are getting a look at the future that -you- yourselves-are working to bring about.
You-in your ignorance- have no idea what socialism really is and where socialism really ends. Do some investigating. Read up on socialist and communist countries.
Read up on what these campaigns for ‘equity’ and ‘to protect the worker class’s really end up. In poverty for everyone-other than a select, elite few.
