Government is stupid. That, and people in government think we are stupid. These are two inescapable facts.
The latest example are the latest mask rules from the CDC.

Fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear a mask outside, except in crowded settings, under new guidelines released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
During a White House briefing, public health officials said fully vaccinated individuals can unmask while walking, running, hiking or biking outdoors alone or with members of their household.
Vaccinated people also don’t need to wear a mask during small outdoor gatherings with fully vaccinated family and friends, or at gatherings with a mixture of vaccinated and unvaccinated people, they said.
In addition, fully vaccinated individuals don’t need to wear a mask at outdoor restaurants with friends from multiple households, the guidance said.
“Today is another day we can take a step back to the normalcy of before,” said CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky. “If you are fully vaccinated, things are much safer for you than those who are not yet fully vaccinated.”
The CDC continues to suggest that fully vaccinated people wear a mask inside. Why? Because.
This is silly.
If the vaccines work as the CDC claims, then fully vaccinated people are 90-plus-percent protected. If the vaccines don’t work, as is suggested by the constant mask requirement, then the CDC has a lot of explaining to do.
Hence the stupidity.
The government is fighting to keep control of your behavior, no matter how far down a dead-end it takes them.
People in government are stupid. They got some early assumptions wrong, but liked the power they were able to grab. So now, more than a year into this, we are getting new rules that don’t make sense. We’re being told fully vaccinated people can sometimes take off their mask while outside, even though they are fully protected. We’re being told lockdowns and restrictions must continue to somehow encourage vaccinations. We’re being told to stay home, stay afraid, stay out of work.
I don’t know which is worse, government stupidity or their belief that we are this stupid?
