This might be my favorite story of the day: March is ‘women’s history’ month, so the senate democrats sent out a celebratory tweet and it included all sorts of current and former ‘famous’ women.
The collage of women included Nancy Pelosi, of course, and Kammy, and RGB, and Michelle Obama, and Jill Biden...
It even included Georgia’s gap-toothed supermodel, Stacey Abrahams. Janet Yellen was on there- looking like Jerry Garcia from the dead. Sonya Sotomayor. Several historical figures. They were all on there
Do you know who they forgot?
And do you know who threw an absolute shiz-nit...when she didn’t see her own face in the collage?
Hillary Rodham Cornelius Clinton.
They left off Hillary Clinton!!!!
She was the first co-president that America never asked for.
She forced herself into a NY senate race that she couldn’t lose in order to be a u-s senator.
Barrack Obama appointed her sect of state so that she would be flying around the world to remote countries instead of bothering him in dc.
And those bogus credentials gave her the resume to be the first woman to run for president.
Nope. Scratch that. There have been probably two dozen women that have run for president-dating back to the early 1800s...but Hillary likes to believe she was the first woman to run for president.
And she-was-the first women to ever win the nomination on a major ticket. The first woman who had any real chance to win the presidency.
And we all know how that ended: Donald Trump cheated her out of a victory.
Or it was Wisconsin’s fault.
Or Chelsea’s....
I forget all of the more than 65 excuses she’s given for her loss...but that’s a real number.
And after all of that- she is scrolling thru Facebook and sees that she’s been left off of a collage of famous trailblazing women –
And one that was put together by her own party!
She was even a US senator!!
Oh, it’s gotta sting.
And yet-it reveals what sort of regard the people in her own party have for Hillary Clinton.
I’ve been telling you for years now that even most people in her own party don’t like Hillary Clinton and never did. They didn’t like bill, either.
They just had to put up with the Clinton bullcrap when bill was popular and they hoped they were done with the Clintons after his term was up.
But nope- the hag is still hanging around. She’s now in the senate...hoping to be president herself...and you know the rest of the story.
But-is there a better illustration that this that-in Hillary’s own mind-she’s a legend. She should have been front and center in any collage, debate, discussion about great American women. Trailblazers.
And she was left out .Clearly, no one else in dc really sees it that way.
Now-was this intentional? Did some staffers in Patty Murray’s office or whoever put this together... Have a discussion about whether to include Hillary, and reject her?
It’s fun to ponder, but I’m guessing the answer is ‘no’.
And that’s even worse.
Most likely- as they did their clip art and thought of all of the women they wanted to honor in this collage- most likely-they just forgot about Hillary.
No one mentioned Hillary.
Oooo, that’s got to sting.
But it isn’t unfair.
And I’m guessing some listeners think I’m making too much of this.
I’m not. And it’s actually a pretty interesting and important historical point: I have said-forever- on this show-that the Clintons will both be blips in history.
At best-they will be very difficult trivia questions when your grandkids are playing board games....or playing pub trivia at the bar...in 15 or 20 years.
Who was the 42nd president of the United States?
Ugh..it goes..Reagan, George Bush, uhm...Obama....uhm....
And that will be the ‘bill’ question.
The Hillary questions will be even more obscure to future Americans: What saddle-bagged screech owl lost what was considered the Democrat’s easiest chance to win the White House?
I mean- the clues are right in the question: saddle bags. Screech owl.....ugh...I know this...Oprah Winfrey?
No, but close. Oprah never ran for office. It’s Hillary Clinton.
Guh....
The one thing the Clintons wanted more than anything else- was to be remembered as great and consequential Americans.
After he was out of office and George Bush was dealing with a war...Bill Clinton was actually quoted as saying that he regretted that he didn’t get to be a war-time president, because war time presidents are remembered.
Truly.
Instead-his big military accomplishment was bombing an aspirin factory with no one in it.
It kills Bill Clinton that he doesn’t have a notable legacy. And so, it really had to kill him when his own party rejected as ‘terrible’ the few accomplishments that he had...like the crime bill that actually worked to end a nationwide crime crisis we had in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Clinton is savaged by his own side of the aisle for that now, because they think it ended up incarcerating too many black and brown people.
Forget that they did the crimes. It’s still racist, somehow, and Clinton is the bad guy.
It has to kill him that his own party rejects the few achievements that he did have.
And then there’s Hillary.
She gave it her all. She campaigned so hard that she was hiding back braces under thick coats.
She drove herself so hard that she had an episode in which she had to be dragged by her armpits and tossed into a van like a sack of rice....and lost a shoe in the gutter along the way.
Hillary Clinton gave us -and her party-everything she had-including a good pair of pumps that day....and we rejected her.
And now her own party....just four years later, mind you-
Now her own party forgets her-or intentionally excludes her- from a ‘trailblazing women’ collage that has to have 30 women on it.
They remembered Janet Yellen...
Folks...they remembered interior secretary Deb Haaland!!!
Who?
Exactly.
But they forgot Hillary.
Oh-
And I never did get to the best part: Hillary was so furious that she had a staffer call over to the senate and demand to be included!
Clinton bullied her way into the collage!!
It was actually amended and re-issued.
