We all agree that the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton are tragedies.
We all agree that it's a terrible loss, that innocent lives were lost, that people will have a hole in their lives forever.
But we don't agree about almost anything else.
Within hours of the two shootings over the weekend we had politicians talking about who is to blame (President Trump) and what to do (ban black rifles).
Half the country focuses on guns after a mass shooting.
Half the country focuses on mental illness, or hate, or evil.
That's why we cannot have a conversation about mass shootings. We all agree until we don't agree. And then, we can never agree.
Politics, and the politics of 2019 only make this worse.
