Nevada Outlaws Discriminating Against Potheads

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has signed a law that prohibits employers from turning down job applicants because they're stoners

The new law, which goes into effect in 2020, states, "It is unlawful for any employer in this state to fail or refuse to hire a prospective employee because the prospective employee submitted to a screening test and the results of the screening test indicate the presence of marijuana."

That's not to say every job in Nevada is open to weed smokers. The law makes exceptions for employers hiring firefighters, EMTs, drivers and positions that "could adversely affect others' safety."
