Wisconsin Way Medical Leader of the Year Award: Dr. Douglas Evans
Douglas B. Evans is Chair of the Dept. of Surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Prior to joining MCW in 2009, he was the Hamill Foundation Distinguished Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the highly-acclaimed cancer treatment facility in Houston. Dr. Evans is board-certified in surgery, and his clinical interests include treatment of pancreatic cancer and tumors of the endocrine system. Over his career, he has authored or co-authored over 250 journal articles, and presented his research findings worldwide. Since joining MCW, he has forged the Program in Pancreatic Cancer Research, including a clinical database, a tissue bank, and ongoing laboratory research. Moreover, Dr. Evans has been a driving force in the recruitment of world-class medical talent to join the faculty of The Medical College of Wisconsin.
