Separating people by color or sex used to be discrimination

If you want to know why so many young people enter the workforce looking to be offended, just look at how they leave college.

The new wokeness on campus is to separate people by color, or gender, or sexual orientation, or by income.

That used to be balled racism or discrimination. Now, it’s simply being woke.

RedState Has a write-up on graduation at Columbia.

For the Class of 2021, the private Ivy League research university will offer (supplemental) virtual graduation ceremonies for each of the following:

  • American Indian
  • Asian
  • “LGBTQIA+”
  • “Latinx”
  • Black
  • First-generation and/or low income

The school calls the events “Multicultural Graduation Ceremonies.”

As noted by The College Fix, the proceedings cover graduates from Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, General Studies, and Barnard College.

Columbia’s webpage invites intimacy-lovin’ participants thusly:

This registration page is for any graduating seniors of our undergraduate schools who would like to participate as graduates in our virtual ceremonies. Complementing our school- and University-wide ceremonies, these events provide a more intimate setting for students and guests to gather, incorporate meaningful cultural traditions and celebrate the specific contributions and achievements of their communities.

The concept of community has certainly changed.

It used to reference a shared geographical area where people looked out for one another. Now, it seems, the term refers to complete strangers with possibly nothing in common but the shade of their skin.

Supporters of these separate but equal ceremonies say they are in addition to the normal graduation. That these are supposed to be support groups.

Go back and listen to the excuses for school segregation in the 1940s. The excuse back then was kids would be more comfortable with ‘their kind’ as well.

College is supposed to be the time when you learn new things, when you meet new people, when you are exposed to things beyond your little corner of the world. That was then. Now, it seems college is all about entrenching divisions among people. There are some schools that want separate dorms, again based on race, sex, gender, or what have you.

One Twitter user defended these notions by saying if “If people of color, low income and gays don’t want to associate with dirty whites they shouldn’t have to. “

Does that sound like someone who sees their fellow students as equals? Is that someone who is judging by the content of their character, not the color of their skin? No.

For all of the new wokeness who say this country is irredeemably racist, that is a nation is broken because of its racist past -- they sure do want to go back to that past. They certainly seem to think that the cure for racism is to split everyone into their own little groups based on skin color, or sexual partners, or how much money in your bank account. But the really sickening part is how they want to then turn those groups on each other.

Some graduation message, huh?
