Democrats need to remember, it's not just Trump supporters who own guns.

About 100 million people in the United States own a gun. Many own more than one. And they're not just middle aged white guys who live in red states.

Democrats need to keep that in mind as they push gun control as a topic in 2020.

After the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, there is a renewed push for red flag laws and expanded background checks. There is also new talk about gun buybacks and whether anyone needs a semiautomatic weapon.

The focus of these gun control plans is to target suburban moms who are terrified of guns.

But if Democrats go all-in on the moms, they run the risk of ignoring one of their largest voting blocks. African American voters.

Millions of African Americans own guns. Some to protect themselves from the bad guys in their neighborhood, some to protect themselves for a greater threat.

Many of them don't like the idea of giving up their guns to make moms in the suburbs feel better.

The Democratic candidates for president seem fixated on gun grabbing and gun controlling, without realizing what they are saying.

But notion that Democrats are running a campaign aimed at Twitter and the issues of the day, and not real voters is nothing new.
