Government dependency is bad.

There is freedom in independence.

If you are financially independent you can quit your job, sell your house, and move to a new state. You are free to live your life as you see fit.

If you are financially independent, you can take chances and explore new opportunities.

Dependency erases all of that. And government dependency can trap people for years.

Governor Tony Evers is pitching a massive expansion of government dependency. Evers calls it Medicaid expansion, but it's really a massive growth in the number of people who look to the government to take care of them.

The government, through welfare programs like food stamps and healthcare, will never let anyone starve. But the government will also never let anyone succeed. Benefit cliffs are real.

There was a time in the country where the goal was to get people from welfare to work. Now, it appears that the goal is to make sure no one has to work because of welfare.
