Jay Weber Show transcript 10/1/25

I suppose I shouldn’t really be surprised-

But I was surprised that such a stellar and important speech -as the one that Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered yesterday morning-hasn’t gotten more coverage than it did.

Yesterday, I was running into little blurbs on it, but that was about it.

This was a very important military speech, and it could easily become an ‘historically important’ military speech if it represents a lasting and major change in how the US military operates moving forward.

This was an event that Hegseth and president trump called over 800 of our military leaders back to Washington DC to hear-in person. There had to be at least a thousand top pentagon staffers and generals and admirals, etc., in the room-

To hear our secretary of defense lay out a so-called ‘warrior ethos’ for our military moving forward.

This was a very critical and important speech when it comes to the defense of our nation and our approach to warfare and global conflicts.

And most media outlets...just...sort of...skipped it?

That’s pathetic.

This was president trump- thru Hegseth-saying the last two decades of ‘wokeism’ and ‘DEI’ and ‘social justice engineering’ that the left has forced into our military has come to an end. The leftist changes the Obama and Biden regimes imposed on our fighting forces over the course of the last 12 of the last 16 years- are gone. Erased. And we are getting back to a military that is built for lethality. Built for national defense. And built for war.

This was such an important speech that I want to play a few snippets of it for you ‘early risers’ who were probably work and didn’t hear it.

Among the things Hegseth said and he said...any of you in this room who disagree with that can do the honorable thing and resign.

And by the way? - most of our military leaders who were sitting in that room were quietly pleased with what they heard- when they were questioned afterward.

Some of them have ‘embraced’ the woke destructionist that’s been going on in our military-but most of them haven’t. And so, this speech went well.  He talked about getting back to physical fitness standards and having only one higher training standard.

FULL SPEECH HERE >

Hegseth called it the ‘male’ recruitment and training standards that we will be going back to for current and future recruits.... but he meant the ‘higher’ standard. He suggested that if women can hit that higher mark, great. But we aren’t going to lessen our standards out of wokeness or kindness.

And, of course, all the left-wing critics took away from this is that Hegseth ‘fat shamed’ generals.

Do you know that Joy Behar and Sunny Hosten over at ‘the view’ wondered aloud why Hegseth was so obsessed with physical fitness?

Honestly.

Those two dimwits couldn’t figure out why the head of our military branches wants ‘fit soldiers’.Now that’s PHD level stupidity.

Hegseth also said that the entire idea of being ‘toxic’ and ‘triggered’ in the u-s army is now forbidden. It is anathema to their mission.

Again- the leftists watching heard that line about ‘bullying and hazing’ and immediately spun it to pretend as if Hegseth was saying our military branches are bringing back bullying and hazing. They aren’t. You heard what he said: he’s talking about how those words have been weaponized within the ranks in order to make for a softer, weaker, military member who’s making excuses for their own shortcomings or physical failures. And it won’t be tolerated anymore.

He said – we are going back to actual ‘physical’ military training when we say ‘training’. We aren’t going to spend most of our time ‘training’ the troops on DEI messages given to them in PowerPoint presentations on wokeisms:

Thank God.

One of the most infuriating things that our warriors have had to endure- over the Bush, Obama, and Biden presidencies -were insane rules of engagement that put our troops in danger.... before we could kill the enemy.

In the bush era-it was reckless and asinine rules like: you got to drive the streets of Baghdad and wait to be shot at before you can return fire kill the enemy you know is hiding in that building. They got to prove they are trying to kill you before you can kill them.

In the Obama era-it was ending our super-effective nighttime raids. We had night vision capabilities that were a total game changer. We could sneak in and kill terrorists in the dark. Often in their beds. It was an awesomely one-sided war. Until Obama ordered our troops to stop doing that ‘because it disrupted the locals’ as they slept at night.

No kidding.

Also, in the Obama and Biden eras: you can’t kill the terrorists if they leave their guns behind in the building, they were just using to shoot at you from.  If they leave the gun inside and simply walk out and stroll away you can’t shoot them. No, no. They got to be actively shooting at you. Etc.

Our troops have had to endure those rules of engagement-and worse- as squishy, dangerous idiots sat in our white house and pentagon. Not under trump.

Thank heaven.

Hegseth even chastised the generals for ‘going soft’ on uniform and personal hygiene standards. He said- unless you are in special ops and trying to blend in with the locals-you won’t have beards or facial hair any longer. Shave.

Finally, I really want you to hear the last two minutes or so of Hogseth's speech- because I thought it was- so good. So, moving.

And I’ve got to believe that most generals and admirals who were in that room appreciated it.

That’s good stuff. It makes you proud to be an American, again.

And you might have just ‘heard why’ so few left-wing media outlets covered the content of the speech-and why so many others chose to only write quick blurbs that misrepresented-or didn’t do justice-to what Hegseth actually said.

It was good stuff. You can find the whole speech online if you want to hear the entire thing.But- after decades and decades of dealing with wokeism and the constantly ‘lowering’ standards and all the DEI seminars and indoctrination that was mandated as ‘training’-

My god, imagine how many of our military members-and generals- are relieved to know they can go back to acting like a military again.
