Let’s ‘bottom line’ the name change for MSNBC, shall we?
NBC-universal spun off a turd and wanted to make sure that it was no longer associated with them- so they insisted on a name change and dropping the NBC peacock logo.
That’s what happened here.
It’s saying that ‘CNBC’ is going to be allowed to keep its moniker...even though it won’t be an NBC property anymore. It still-will be- a comcast property, unless they decide to sell this package of stations they are moving into a different company.
There’s some overall credibility built up around CNBC in the financial world....so it gets to keep its moniker.
Not so with MSNBC.
I had forgotten that the station was originally a collaboration between Microsoft and NBC...and that’s how it became ‘MS- NBC’. Yesterday, I swore that I never knew what the MS stood for. But-at one time- I did.
But now...the station is going to be called ‘MS-NOW’ and that’s going to stand for my sucky news option, woefully...
No, it really stands for: my source for news, opinion, and the world. According to MSNBC’s new masters....
But otherwise- get this: otherwise, nothing’s going to change.
Really? This new spin-off company’s managers want the incredibly sucky ratings to continue.
For now, this is being spun off into a cluster called ‘versant’... With other useless comcast properties, including CNBC, USA, Oxygen, and E! The entertainment network.
Apparently, the on-air hosts at MSNBC were simply giggly over the name change, yesterday. I saw Joe Scarborough making an ass of himself- selling it hard to his audience and talking about how positive it was.
Rachel Maddow also gushed over the decision in a statement, etc.
But behind the scenes, the name change was not met as enthusiastically, according to some media reports. Employees believe this sort of marks the ‘beginning of the end’ for MSNBC....much more than it represents a ‘new beginning’.
And the biggest reason to believe that is that- nothing else changes.
All these people-and the media world-were all ensured that ‘nothing else was going to change. It’ll be the same great- barely watched- programming that it’s always been.
So, the product will still stink and get super-low ratings...but the name change is going to mean new stationery and t-shirts for the staffers, I guess.
John Nolte of Breitbart-their media critic- is calling this a death blow...and .... humiliating.
I agree completely: we are living in a wonderful age of ‘backlash’ against decades of socialist creep and woke left-wing bullying-and we should be enjoying every minute of it. I know I have been-from this position.
I am cheering for a ‘country restored’ before president trump leaves office in 3 and a half years- and i am cheering for another eight-year run of Trumpism and conservatism to follow...so we can really put this country-and traditional America- back on track.
It would be glorious.
But to see the rabid propagandist media crumble as quickly as it is- has been a special joy for some of us who have been in this business-as conservatives- and as former news people who once worked for operations that had ethical standards- for decades.
It's especially satisfying to see fake news operations crumble under their own weight because-as i and others warned for decades- once you lose your credibility with the audience and lose your journalistic integrity- you cannot get it back.
I’ve been saying-as they’ve been trying … Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tapper-cannot pretend- that they are fair and unbiased journalists, again.
They can’t just flip a switch or adjust their attitude and be considered credible or honest again. It doesn’t work that way.
This is like any other business where you can claim that you’ve worked out the problem, now, so ‘try us again’...but only if you’ve fixed the problem.
This isn’t Dominoes’ saying- we admit our old pizzas sort of sucked...so try our new ones...and take a photo...and send us an honest review.
This isn’t -your butcher-saying I’ve changed meat companies so ‘try the pork chops, again, this guy’s are fresher. You were right about the other ones.
MSNBC and CNN cannot simply say: try our product again-even though it’s the same people. The same disgraced former journalists are credible again, now.
Nope. If MSNBC wants to be a different product- they need to be a different product. All those disgraced journalists and hosts have to go.
And- related to that-I stole this thought from joe concha in X... but it’s a good one: if you’ve noticed-all the disgraced hosts that CNN and MSNBC have fired over the last year or so...are now just popping up on the ‘other channel’ as experts sitting on their panels.
Watch for it: the racist and disgraced Don Lemon of CNN and joy Reid of MSNBC.... were both fired...and now pop up on that ‘other station’ on panels.
Why? Why is CNN using old, disgraced MSNBC retreads-and vice versa?
To me- it’s the ultimate admission that the people who run these operations- by God- do not want to change. Don’t tell us how to do our jobs. Don’t think you know how to run a tv station as well as we do. And don’t think we are going to go out and find fresh voices with new opinions.
By God, we are doing the purest and bests work -on behalf of the republic- here. If joy Reid’s racism is squelched- democracy dies.
That woman-really is- the ugliest type of modern-day racist...and NBC employed her for years...then replaced her with a woman who seems nearly as racist: Simone sanders.
She can’t find anything she likes about whitey, either.
But she can clearly find the donuts on the craft services table.
