Trump cracks down on the homelessness problem

Jay Weber Show transcript 7-29-25

I love that president trump and his team have issued an executive order to end crime and disorder in our streets by encouraging police and local leaders to collect up their homeless populations and get them into drug treatment or to the mental hospitals....and show some genuine compassion for them...instead of pretending that living in a mental haze on the streets is what ‘compassion’ toward the homeless looks like.

This modern wave of ‘thinking’ on the left suggests its kindnesses to allow tent cities to grow in our communities as increasingly young and troubled druggies and mental patients decide to ‘flop out’ instead of trying to participate in society- has been all wrong.

Some of us knew it and talked about it from ‘moment one’- as all sorts of city leaders in these leftist-run cities decided to ‘lay off the homeless’ and let it happen....and we’ve been proven right- again-  with disastrous results for our communities over time.

And I’ll let you know right now- no- President Trump and the federal government cannot force local leaders, police, or communities to ‘do the right thing’ and get their homeless addicts off the streets and into treatment...

No. There’s nothing ‘legally binding’ or any ‘real power’ behind this executive order...from a legal ‘enforcement angle’  to try to get community leaders to act on their own.

But the trump order-does- ‘attack the money’. Which is a great way to approach this problem of ‘never-ending’ and ‘ever worsening’ homelessness that the democrats in this country have only perpetuated and made worse-with their policies.

And this idea that bums and drug addicts and the mentally ill have a ‘constitutional right’ to exist on the streets- has finally been knocked down after at least a decade of legal nonsense.

Folks- the supreme court made it clear in a ruling last year-and now president trump is making it clear with an executive order: you locals have the power to act on your community’s behalf-and on the behalf of these ‘lost and homeless souls’...to do something about it.

And yet- it’s not a surprise that the pushback from the so-called ‘compassionate left’ to Trump’s executive order was swift and nasty.

They rushed to blast Trump as uncaring and mean.... when in truth.... Getting these people off the streets and into treatment is the caring and compassionate thing to do-

And from what I can see, the left-wing activists rushed to do so- not because they are ‘care’ for these people- but because they are worried that their ‘homeless industrial complex’ will collapse.

After all-hey- they’ve gotten tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of tax dollars pouring into their various ‘do goader’ organizations to help the homeless.

But if they actually ‘help the homeless, their funding dries up. Correct?

And so- lets acknowledge the threat that president trump’s directive -is- to all sorts of NGOs and community scammers who pretend they are running ‘do-gooder’ agencies. Or might even believe that.

I applaud this team of Donald Trump’s for finding ways to ‘exact their will’ by using the levers of government that they-do have- in order to try to correct the problems they are seeing at the state and local levels.

Democrats have been doing this for decades-in the opposite effort: to force their leftist ‘will’ onto these city and state leaders.

It is absolutely ‘fair game’ and ‘high time’ that republicans do it. And putting some new- and basic-requirements around continued government funding is a very good way to do it.

Show us your do-gooder effort is actually ‘doing some good’. Prove to us that you are really helping people to get off the streets and improve their lives and improve your community.

Or you don’t get the money.

That is -not- too much to ask of these non-government agencies. Prove you are doing some good- or stop fleecing the taxpayers.

One or the other.

This is a great move.

As you’d expect-the lefties at the J/S couldn’t disagree with me more, though-

So, they rushed out to talk to the quote- advocates’-

Otherwise known as the people whose salaries and livelihoods rely on this taxpayer money that can never really help people- or they’re out of a job.

Trump order on unsheltered people strikes Wisconsin housing advocates as backward step

That’s malarkey, of course, because it’s the substance abuse and mental illness that are keeping them from getting a job-being productive citizens-and finding housing.

Also-its excuse for the addition and the lack of personal responsibility and accountability.

There are ten different ways that the left’s ‘compassionate’ approach to this is crap. And we’ve detailed them over the decades-on this show and radio station.

We have more homeless than ever in America

These people on the streets don’t have ‘disabilities. Virtually all of them are either drug or booze addicts- or mentally ill- or both.  They need treatment and help...not ‘the freedom to make their own choices’.

At least not initially.

Compassion-is picking the bum out of the gutter and getting him or her help. It is -not- letting them lie there and giving them a pamphlet for shelter and clean needles or drug pipes to use.

The man’s death -was-about the drugs or mental illness that kept him on the streets instead of seeking or wanting help.

The truth is, and homeless advocates know this: the truth is- if you give most of these people homes or an apartment to flop in-

They might use it for a short while as a drug den-but are soon back out living on the streets because- in their minds- it’s where they ‘want’ to be.

The ‘tell’ here- is that America’s homeless aren’t begging for homes.

They aren’t telling volunteers that- if I only had a home. A place to stay and ‘get it all together’, I’d be okay.

Nope. Most of them want to be out on the street- or in the tent city- flopping and wandering around the fringes of society.

And -compassion-is intervention. Not- an occasional sandwich and free clean drug needles.
