House takes an early break, but Trump's team still moving forward

Jay Weber Show transcript 7-23-25

It’ll be interesting to see if any revelations are found in the 230-thousand documents that the Trump DOJ finally released on the Martin Luther King assassination in 1968.

This release amounts to ‘keeping another campaign promise’ for president trump. He vowed on the campaign trail to finally release all the information that has been ‘govt classified’ for fifty years.... related to MLK, JFK, and RFK’s deaths...

And this is the first massive document dump keeping that promise.  It’ll be interesting to see if there are any classified revelations related to MLK’s murder...and whether they ‘rewrite history’ in any way.

I noticed a few stories in the leftist media that tried to tie this to the Epstein files. The dolts at CNN and MSNBC, of course, leapt to insist that this is trump’s team releasing -these records-as a distraction from the ‘growing scandal’ because they won’t release the Epstein files.

First-no one outside of the elite east coast circles views this quote...Epstein scandal...as a growing one...

And second: Trump promised to release the files of MLK, JFK, and RFK.... He never promised to release the Epstein files, I don’t believe.

When he was asked if he would, he said ‘yeah, probably’. But I don’t believe Trump ever ‘vowed’ to release the Epstein files.... even if others who he later appointed to his cabinet -did- like Pam Bondi and Dan Bongino.

Either way- it’ll be interesting to see whether there’s anything included in those long-classified FBI files that has us ‘thinking differently’ about MLK’s assassination.

And as for the ‘Epstein question’...i find it silly that Mike Johnson and house republicans are shutting down the house’s work a few days early and heading off to august recess early....rather than allow for a floor vote on a resolution that would amount to congress officially ordering all the Epstein files to be released.

Go ahead and take the vote. Prove to the American people republicans have nothing to hide-and want the truth, too-

And as for the actual ‘demand’?  Well heck, the Trump White House and DOJ are going to do whatever they want to do, anyway, regardless of what congress demands.

Let’s not pretend that congress demanding the release of these records prompts any -real-action from the Trump DOJ or White House.

It’s the grand history of Washington DC for presidential administrations to simply stonewall and ignore congressional demands-if they don’t like them-

And so- I honestly don’t know why mike Johnson and his team wouldn’t just take the silly ‘show vote’...and keep working.

But, for whatever reason- Johnson and his team don’t. Instead, they want to give Trump’s team about a month to work it out for themselves.  The people who control the records are- the dept of justice and FBI....as well as two Manhattan judges who heard the Epstein and Maxwell criminal cases and are sitting on grand jury testimony and evidence.

Well- as of this past weekend- president trump has both -ordered his own DOJ to release any Epstein records they deem factual.... and.... has had that same DOJ lobby the two judges to release those grand jury findings-

And so- in paper and in public- president trump and his team are doing all the ‘right things’ here, to be transparent and have this stuff released.

That’s what has Mike Johnson and Steve Scalise and the house leadership team saying- lets block this silly, manufactured ‘house vote’ at least until after Labor Day, to see where this goes on its own.

That’s what’s happening here, my friends.

You will see this characterized in both the lefty media and in some conservative media as house republicans.... fleeing dc.... or being ‘paralyzed’ by the Epstein scandal.

They’re not.

I’ve just explained the logic of blocking this house vote for the time being.

The silly ‘back and forth’ is all quite childish-and if I was Mike Johnson, I’d just hold the vote....’demand the Epstein files be released’.... and move on.... because the trump White House and DOJ will ignore it, anyway.

They’ll do what every other presidential administration has done- probably since Washington, they’ll move forward with the Epstein files the way -they-want to move forward. In their branch of government. Ignoring what ‘congress’ wants...or when.

Meanwhile- those same house republicans who are now going to go home for over a month- need to be prepared to answer questions to the few angry voters who will come to their town halls and demand Epstein transparency.

Their response should be simple, at this point: it’s all going to come out within weeks or months.

The explanation over the next month: you can’t blast Trump’s white house for working to get most of the information released by two Manhattan judges. They’re trying to do what you ask, here.

Additionally-both the house oversight committee and the Trump DOJ are talking with Maxwell’s lawyer to have her come and testify in front of them.

One of Bondi’s top deputies- Todd Blanche-says he intends to meet with maxwell in the coming days. Head off to the prison and interview her.

Over the last few days- thru the media- Maxwell has insisted she’s willing to testify in front of congress and meet with prosecutors- but I’m sure it’s a matter of ‘what she gets out of it’.

Also remember that this is a scummy, duplicitous human being...and so...I’ll be interesting to hear what she has to say...but we still shouldn’t take it as gospel.

This is a woman who- actively sought out, tricked, and groomed teenaged girls and delivered them directly into Jeffery Epstein’s hands...and into his perverted service.

I don’t know about you, but I think that if there’s a special ring of hell reserved for people who prey on children...there’s a close vestibule reserved for the absolute human garbage who helped those child predators commit their crimes.

Ghislaine Maxwell....hunted...tricked...and delivered teenaged girls to Jeffery Epstein so that he could abuse them sexually-and keep them ensnared for ‘long term use and abuse’ as he pleased.   A bullet in her head or a rope around her neck is more appropriate punishment for maxwell- than a 20-year prison sentence.

I wouldn’t support-any- plea deals that let her out earlier in exchange for what she known. But I assume that’s where this is headed.

She and her family have already appealed to the trump white house for a pardon- which Trump has rejected.  That’d be a massive mistake and would only make Trump look like he was guilty of something that he didn’t want her to reveal.

But she’s not likely to talk ‘for nothing’. It’d be better to have her grand jury testimony released...but that’s less likely.

And as for the house oversight appearance-

Guuuhhhh....

This is basically what I’ve been saying I-don’t want to see’ – over the last several shows:if it’s one hearing from comer’s committee. Fine.

But if it balloons into another never-ending and useless distraction- no.

It’s a huge waste of time that pulls republicans away from the more important business of ramming home the republican agenda- while they

Have a good way to do so.

Any congressional investigation into Epstein or Maxwell should be discouraged for that reason.

It’s 10 to 15 years too late-and most house investigations end up being useless.

Still- I’ll ‘allow’ the singular house hearing if it can produce anything new or clarifying.

Alan Dershowitz, the Harvard law professor emeritus and one of Epstein’s personal criminal attorneys is saying- even the court files aren’t likely to have anything new- and if there’s anything more to be revealed-it would come from Maxwell..

He means immunity from ‘further’ prosecution, obviously, which I’d be okay with, depending on how candid she is willing to be.
