Two things have happened in New York city, recently, as it relates to ice: first-
The NY City council voted to block ice agents from opening an office in the NY City jails...
And second: an off-duty customs agent was shot in the face by an illegal alien during an attempted robbery Saturday night.
Both of those things’ ‘outrage’ the Trump administration and border czar Tom Homan, of course, and so, yesterday, Homan and Kristi Noem held a news conference at ‘one world trade center’ to announce that ice is going to ‘flood the zone’ in New York city.
If city leaders won’t cooperate and NY leaders won’t take their own crime problem seriously- then Trump’s team will. That was the message to New Yorkers-and their leaders- yesterday.
This isn’t just a threat, people.
This isn’t just Homan and Noem threatening to make it ‘really miserable’ on New York leaders if they won’t cooperate with ice: this is Homan saying- if you won’t let us collect the illegal criminals from the jails...where we would need less manpower and it would be safer for everyone involved...
That means we-have to- call in more agents and manpower....and have more conflicts out on the streets. You leave us no choice.
That’s the point Homan is making. New York’s leaders...LA’s leaders...are thinking they can thwart the will of our federal agencies by refusing to cooperate with them. That’s outrageous enough that Trump’s team practically has no choice- other than- to react by saying:you will not scare us out of doing our jobs. You’re only making us angrier and more resolved.
And this is -still-not an issue that the democrats are ‘winning on’ with the American people.
Sunday morning, New Yorkers awoke to the news that an off-duty agent was shot in the face during a robbery-by an illegal alien with such a long rap sheet that he never should have been let into the country in the first place.
But...
You know what happened: Biden’s regime just waved him in with the rest of the illegals in 2023.
Eric Adams has, overall, been pretty good about cooperating with ice.
It’s clowns like the Manhattan borough president who proves he’s dangerously dump. When he says...Tom Homan is talking about sending masked, unidentified agents into our streets to tear apart families and raid workplaces. This isn’t about safety. It’s about instilling fear.’
No. It’s about safety.
What does this man not understand about how-if ice can’t collect the criminals at the jails.... They must go out onto the streets and find them.
It is-that action-that leads to agents in masks and raids of private locations and workplaces.
It is during those raids that ice is going to collect up other illegal aliens if they find them, too. Get it?
This is literally: we are here for Jesus Rodriquez, and you’ve got him in custody.
Or- we are here for Jesus Rodriguez- he’s working on a pot farm...so we’re going to raid the farm.
Any other illegal caught up in that raid is going to be deported, too.
And so-if you are a community whose leaders ‘really care’ about the illegal residents.... Which is the better way to play it? Cooperate with ice? Or don’t?
Genuinely, people: if these sanctuary cities don’t want ‘innocent’ illegals deported...cooperating with ice is going to keep more of the law-abiding ones here. It honestly will, given how ice leaders are going about these raids.
As Noem and Homan said yesterday: what we’ll do in a city like this is--we will double down.We’ll put more agents here. We’ll put more personal here. We’ll give them more equipment, more training, etc.
Trump, Noem, and Homan- must convince the democrat leaders that ‘not cooperating with the feds’ is worse for them and their communities than just ‘cooperating with the feds’.
Especially when it comes to getting -criminal-illegals out of their communities.
It’s worth reminding people-yet again-that ice is still going after primarily- criminal- illegals, gang members, and terror suspects.
Why the people who live in crime-ridden cities and blue states don’t want ‘safer cities and blue states- is beyond me.
They are -still-fighting this tooth and nail.
A 42-year-old customs officer is in critical condition in a NY hospital today because New York leaders won’t take any of this seriously.
And that’s just one example of the literal-thousands- of victims of illegal alien crime that New Yorkers see every month. From pickpocketing, right up to rape and murder.
New York liberals really want to call him a ‘loving father’?
As Tom Homan put it: sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals. That’s what they turn out to be.
And as for the growing claim that polls show the American people think Trump’s deportation efforts are starting to go too far-
Not in the swing states or red states. Only in the blue states and cities...are we seeing some citizens think that ice is ‘being too mean’ now.
So, those polls are misleading.
Scott Jennings had a very good response to this on CNN. When the lefty panel was discussing this ‘shift in attitudes’ on illegal immigration.

Oh- speaking of illegal criminals and ‘loving fathers.
That ‘loving Maryland father’ who was deported once to El Salvador- only to have a court order that he be brought back-
Ms-13-member Kilmer Obregon Garcia-
He was deported in March-then un-deported in June. He’s sitting in a jail cell awaiting trial in the u-s now-
This week- Garcia’s lawyers agreed with federal prosecutors and urged the judge-not- to set Abrego Garcia free...back onto the streets.
His own lawyers told the judge: don’t release this guy.
And no, they aren’t worried that he’ll commit more crimes...or that he’ll be targeted by Maga members.
No-
Garcia’s lawyers are worried that if he’s released back onto the streets-Trump’s ice agents will snap him up and deport him again.
Fantastic.
Whether or not that’s a reasonable worry- I like that we finally have a healthy fear of ice-and deportation-again. It’s been a long time.
The federal judge could still order him to be released...but...his own attorneys are saying he should remain locked up.
Moreover- now that the big reconciliation bill passed and tens of millions more dollars are going to be put toward deportation efforts-this ice effort is about to get ‘more visible’ and ‘more aggressive’ -not less.
The biggest challenge for Trump and home is going to be to find the additional law enforcers -and hire ten thousand of them- in relatively short order.
To that end- the NY Post reports former ice agents who left the job in disgust during the Biden and Obama eras- are being lured back into service with what could be 30 or 50-thousand dollar re-signing bonuses.
That’s not bad.
I’m guessing that it will lure at least ‘some number’ of former agents back to the job, yes.
Especially when one of the biggest reasons ice agents -in particular-quit in disgust over the last two decades-is that neither Obama, nor Biden- nor Donald trump in term one- really allowed them to do their jobs.
If Trump’s going to allow them to do the job this time- great. I bet some of them will come back.
