My friends...the left-wing activist wire and the social media outlets have been focused on an interesting narrative over the last few days-
And again-this is what’s going on the -left-side of the aisle. This isn’t conservatives talking about this...but instead...watching as it happens.
There is a ‘growing worries being displayed on the left about an increasingly frustrated and increasingly violent grass roots.
It appears to be the talk of Washington and democrat circles: elected leaders and their staffers under more pressure-by the grassroots- to ‘do something. Do anything’ to stop trump.
For as much joy as we-on the right-are getting out of president trump’s winning -and the large-scale dismantling of the deep state and the leftist agenda within government, education, and other long-time institutions that the leftists have always controlled....it has some groups and activists-on the left- angry. Frustrated. Mortified. Threatening violence.
And they are starting to take out more of their frustrations on these ‘blasted democrats who say they are fighting Trump but aren’t. They aren’t stopping him’.
The first important acknowledgement here is: this is the sort of angry and uninformed reaction that you are going to get- if you and your party are relentlessly engaging in hyperbole and ‘over the top’ scare tactics. Warning ‘people will die’. ‘Democracy will end’. Etc.
So-first thing to acknowledge: it’s today’s lying, gaslighting democrats with their extreme and over-the-top rhetoric who have brought this situation onto themselves.
They’ve got a growing number of their own members-their own supporters- looking to ‘do violence’ and lash back- including ‘at them’.
This group of people who the democrats have whipped up into this frenzy-are also- increasingly insisting that the lawmakers themselves have to start proving they are worthy of their office and are willing to fight....by being willing to....get arrested...or even shot...as part of protest street violence.
Really.
Axios and a few other sites have done stories this week about how sitting democrats are increasingly saying- my own base thinks i need to be willing to be shot over our political differences....and in the effort to stop trump.
Well-
As alarming as that is, I’d say again: it’s largely your increasingly extreme and alarming and violent rhetoric that has brought your grassroots-and the country- to this point.
It's also not surprising, then, when larger percentages of democrats are calling for leaders who they consider stepping aside.
Chief among them: Chuck Schumer.
They know this jag is ‘all talk and no action’. They know Schumer hasn’t been able to stop ...or even block...trump on any of these things...including the major reconciliation bill that just got completed and kept a bunch of Trump and GOP promises.
More self-identified democrats are saying: Schumer’s got to go. And these other top party leaders have got to go.
Years into his senate leadership, Chuck Schumer is proving that he’s no elder statesmen. He’s not even a ‘Harry Reid’...who was a scumbag but was effective.
Even as someone who’s watched Schumer’s career for decades- I’ll admit that I’m surprised at what an impotent, useless, and unimaginative leader he’s been.
When Mitch McConnell oversaw the republican senate caucus- I’d talk about what a brilliant parliamentarian and strategist he was. Mitch was terrible on offense-but brilliant at playing defense and finding ways to stop the Obama and Biden agendas.
We can’t even say that about Chuck Schumer. He hasn’t been able to come up with ways to block any of trump’s legislative agenda. Not even though the republicans only have slim majorities.
One reason is- so far- republican lawmakers have been doing things that ‘go around’ the filibuster. That rule is in place to allow the minority to block the majority...and slow and stiff the agenda. But so far in the first six months of this new trump era- the filibuster hasn’t really come into play.
So far, John Thune and mike Johnson have concentrated on the things that can be done by a ‘simple majority vote’...like use the congressional review act to kill off the last six months of Biden’s executive and agency orders...... like...pile that reconciliation bill with all sorts of things Trump and republicans want to get passed- and pass it- knowing the filibuster cannot be used by the minority party as part of the reconciliation process.
Up next-is going to be a focus on the white house’s first ‘recission bill’. This is the president asking congress to kill off spending that congress has already approved-but that the president doesn’t want to spend.
Trump’s first ‘ask’ is for about 9.4-billion dollars in spending to be canceled...that would otherwise go to funding the corporation for public broadcasting and that god-awful, very secretive, us-aid agency that the democrats have been using as a secret slush fund for decades.
Next up for John Thune and his senators- who are smartly focusing on the things that they-can get done-without democrat votes or having to clear the filibuster- is this rescission package.
But consider where that leaves Chuck Schumer. It leaves ole’ chuck.... impotent, again....to do anything.
If senator Thune can find 50 out of his 53 votes to approve these spending cuts- Chuck Schumer and the democrats will play no role in this-and can! Play no role in it. Get it?
So-if the parliamentary process is set up for you, as the minority party, to sit on the sidelines and play no part in the recission process- well- come on...
How are Chuck Schumer and the democrats supposed to stop this? Get shot on the capitol steps leading riots?
Apparently, this is what more of their angry and narcissistic grassroots want to see.
But instead of admitting this- I see dimwit Chuck Schumer is just going to keep floating along-pretending he can ‘do something’ about this rescission bill.
Another thing Schumer gets wrong is -he pretends as if republicans ‘want’ or ‘need’ democrat cooperation when it comes to the budget process. Nope.
The republicans are not asking Schumer and the democrats to participate in a bipartisan appropriations process- because they are in the majority and have the numbers and don’t need democrat votes. When they do-then Thune might ask. Until then- Schumer is yet again pretending to have power that he doesn’t have.
He's continuing to gaslight...in an attempt to trick the morons into thinking he’s ‘fighting’. He’s ‘doing something’.
He’s doing nothing with this letter, here, aside from covering his own behind.
This gets back to where i started-with the democrats creating their own nightmare here-by spending years filling the heads of gullible, ignorant, and low-IQ people full of alarmist BS....when that same group of morons has no idea how government works. How the filibuster works. How executive orders work. What the constitution says.And how impotent the democrats in dc really are now.
In truth? With the republicans holding even slim majorities and in charge of all of the committees in both chambers....and working so well with the trump white house...democrat lawmakers can’t do much of anything-aside from gaslight and complain.
But their gullible moron activist base doesn’t know that- and so- they’re starting to ‘demand actions’ that the democrats in congress cannot do.
Understand?
Schumer and Jefferies...you got to stop that terrible reconciliation bill that cuts Medicaid.
Sorry. They can’t.
You guys got to stop Trump from killing off DEI. It took us decades to take total control of the education system.
Nope. They can’t.
You guys got to stop Trump from banning boys in girls’ sports.
Nope. They can’t.
You guys have got to stop Trump’s mass deportations. You aren’t fighting enough.
Nope. They can’t.
Six months in- according to the left-wing social media sites- we’ve got at least some group of the democrat grassroots insisting...Schumer and Jefferies and Newsome and the rest of them...should be willing to get shot leading actions in their cities to stop the ice raids.
Ahh....really?
This is what you’re going to start demanding of the lawmakers you elect to office? Should they be willing to die for ‘the cause’?
But hey- I’m not going to let any of these democrat leaders off the hook.... because it’s been their gaslighting and their strategy in this modern era....to ‘use the angry morons’. Correct?
The entire strategy of the democrat party over the last two decades-at least-
At least-dating back to the beginning of the Obama era-
Has been let’s whip up the morons and low-information voters. Let’s use scary tactics and race baiting and over-the-top alarmism to get em’ all cranked up and be our shock troops.
First it was antifa and BLM. Now their protest-rioting has been normalized.
The democrats- including most especially Chuck Schumer- have ‘built this’. And they have made America less safe, less cooperative, less reasonable, and less prosperous in the process.
So now they got to deal with it.
