I’ve talked about how- for the most part- local crime is really a ‘local’ or a ‘state’ thing:the federal government and the president of the United States only have a limited role when it comes to fighting crime in most parts of the country.
In smaller cities and the rural areas- their role is virtually zero- unless the criminal who’s arrested has broken a federal law.
In the larger cities- there are federal prosecutors who deal with the federal crimes-but when it comes to cleaning up street crime- aside from an occasional Rico case.... Or organized crime case.... law enforcement is up to the locals.
Most street crimes and murders are state crimes. Prosecuted through the state and county criminal courts- etc.
I am laying the predicate for this: even the local crime and murder rates are now declining under president trump.
Huh.
And this -could be- because he and his ice agents are finally starting to collect up all sorts of illegal alien criminals who have been committing murders and other crimes in these major cities. The illegal thugs might only be a subset of the overall ‘thug community’ or ‘crime community’ in any given area...but.... there’s no doubt that taking some of them off the street and deporting them is going to lead to lower crime.
And so, that could be a factor here. But I wouldn’t identify it as the ‘only’ possible explanation.
Just-fyi- murder rates and overall crime rates have declined since the first of the year.
I don’t believe this holds up for Milwaukee. I could be wrong but as of June first- we aren’t even through six months of the year- and Milwaukee has already seen 50 murders. That’s a faster pace than last year, I believe. But I could be wrong about that.
But these declines are dramatic: they are seeing somewhere between 20 and 35 percent less murder in most of our major cities.
Again-it can’t be ‘all Trump’.... but his crackdown on illegal gangbangers and known criminals in our major cities must be at least part of the reason.
You probably saw that last week-in just one week- ice arrested about 15 hundred illegal criminals in the greater Boston area-and they’re all being deported.
That’s taking a significant chunk of the criminal community out of the city. Even a large city.Many will end up in prison...and continue to be a burden on the taxpayers...but...nearly 800 will be off the streets and in prison-and about 300 will be deported.
That’s a win for Boston- which is one of those so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ where the local leaders are encouraging citizens to vilify, identify, and interfere with ice actions. It’s shameful and dangerous.
Just a few days ago- ice officials were holding a news conference-and afterward- reporters were shouting all sorts of questions at them as they left-
Normally- they’d just walk out- but the acting ice director, Todd Lyons, doubled back to the podium and said- I want to answer that question. You numbskulls think ice agents are dressing like stormtroopers and hiding their faces because they’re Trump’s evil forces.
Lyons is right to be furious. Tom Homan is furious, too. Here he is on Laura Ingraham’s show- saying-democrat leaders encouraging ‘street actions’ to disrupt ice raids...are intentionally putting people in danger. It’s like they want to see violence...or see agents killed.
Some of the democrats demanding their followers ‘push back’ and ‘out ice’ if you see agents in your neighborhood, etc....include AOC and Ilhan Omar- the normal suspects-
But they also include the democrat’s leader in the house: hakeem Jeffries, who should certainly know better.
Here Jefferies is-just a day or two ago.
The leader of the democrats in congress-is vowing to dox and out and vilify every ice agent who is out there doing his or her job. That’s unacceptable and outrageous.
Every democrat leader-especially Jefferies and Chuck Schumer-should be sending the exact opposite message. They should be saying: we know many people are finding these raids upsetting...but please don’t try to stop them or interfere with law enforcement. Don’t inject yourself and make a dangerous situation even more dangerous.
I swear to you- every democrat lawmaker up until about the Obama administration would have been decent enough and smart enough-and responsible enough-to make that the message: please don’t interfere, or resort to violence or lawlessness.
But today’s America-hating? Law enforcement hating democrats? They’re egging on the mobs, instead. That’s infuriating.
Oh-and how’s this for a fun kicker: do you know where Hakeem Jefferies was just a day or two before he made those comments?
Honest to God: he was at a strategic retreat in which he and other democrats sat around and talked about how their party needed to break with their left-wing activist class and get back to following the desires of the American people.
It was a meeting organized by a new think tank called ‘search light’ and the whole point was the way to get our party back on track is to break with these idiots who have us on the wrong side of every issue...and looked extremists on every issue.
Attendees included Hakeem Jeffries:
Hakeem Jeffries- just ‘nodded along’ at a retreat about how the democrats should ‘break with the wingnuts’ and get back to listening to the American people...
And days later? He’s at a news conference saying ‘fight ICE. Dox ice. Don’t let these people do their jobs removing illegal criminals from your communities?
What?
Did he sleep through most of that weekend retreat?
Or-
More likely: is hakeem Jefferies such an America-hating left-wing ideolog that he associates far more with the left-wing extremists than the American people?
Bingo.
And this is the problem I have outlined when it comes to any ‘pivot’ the leaders of the democrat party need to make to appeal to most voters, again.
They need to -want to- embrace the 80 side of every 80/20 issue...but they...as people...at their core...agree with the 20 side. They are America-haters and socialist activists-at heart. And they aren’t going to give up this woke bullying and proselytizing easily.
