Expect the anti-Trump rhetoric to kick into high gear

Jay Weber Show transcript 5-27-25

You might have seen evidence of this-

Apparently, there’s a new push going on-on the left-to try to convince Americans that President Donald Trump is also mentally unfit for office.

I suppose we should have expected this, given that the democrats are always accusing-others- of the behaviors they, themselves, are engaging in...

And, because-having covered up for Biden’s dementia for five years- now think they can spin it around and use the same attacks on those of us who were pointing out Biden’s obvious mental and physical decline.

The biggest problem they’re going to have with this narrative, however, is that Donald Trump isn’t showing any signs of mental decline.

Biden’s were obvious enough that some of us were pointing them out in 2020-when he was running for office via zoom calls.

President trump is seeing no signs of mental decline. In fact- at 78 years old- trump isn’t even speaking any slower than he used to.

I’m seeing- no signs-that Donald Trump is a 78-year-old man who is struggling either physically, or mentally.

If you watch closely- trump at 78- is being a little more careful on the steps of marine one. Going down more so than going up.

Heck, I’m 58, and I’m finding myself having to be more careful ‘going down’ steps than I used to.Trump’s ancient legs and knees might have him a little stiffer...or he might be a little more unstable on his feet than he used to be. Because we ‘all are’.

But I’m seeing no signs of any struggling or stiffness. And verbally and mentally? He seems as sharp as ever.

Trump is ‘term limited’ and that takes a lot of the power-or sting-out of any claims related to age.

Yeah, he’s only in year one of four, but trump is still vigorous and clearly enjoying the job. He still rarely sleeps. Having to take 4-day weekends to ‘recharge’ and/or be back in the residence by 4- as they were doing with Biden-doesn’t even seem to be in Donald Trump’s future any time soon.

People are ‘built differently’. It’s just true. Genetics accounts for so much of this, I’m convinced. My body-at 58- is breaking down more than friends of mine of the same age-or older. Some of them are losing their hearing, already. Others have their eyesight. I still seem to be fine in that regard.

Everyone ages differently-but everyone is also ‘genetically different’ from the start: Donald Trump has never required a lot of sleep. He’s always been a type ‘a’ personality. Always outgoing and ‘on the go’.  If he suddenly starts to fade- we should see it easily.

So far? No signs of it.

Meanwhile- a couple of former Obama aides made headlines this weekend by admitting that their fellow democrats are dumb if they think they can rely on ‘term limits’ or a ‘Trump implosion’ to get them out of their current troubles.

Dan Pfeiffer and John Favreau sounded a little hacked off that President Trump has basically taken over the so-called ‘Obama coalition’ that they were so certain they’d built.

It is the republicans-not the democrats- who are the multi-racial working-class party.Trump and the GOP have drawn in more Blacks, women, young people, and Hispanics.

Dan Pfeiffer- is not optimistic- this is a short term thing, either.

Pfeifer also made ‘this’ point-which I thought was a good one. He said, look, it is the democrat leaders and strategists who are now hoping for ‘low turnout’ elections now, not the republicans, and this is a dramatic shift in American politics of the last 40 years. And he’s right.

Pfeiffer is right about that.

I, myself, am not certain that this ‘Trump coalition’ holds together as long-term as we’d like-

Nor am i assuming that the democrats cannot get their mojo back with some big wins next fall. I have watched politics and political trends for far too long to assume any long-term trends...or to buy into the current consensus.

Yes-i think this democrat party is in real trouble-and could be heading toward an internal civil war over whether they are genuinely going to be a socialist party, now, or whether most Americans who still call themselves democrats want to moderate, and be smarter, strategically.

And some of that? People? Genuinely hinges on whether most people who call themselves democrats now- still want ‘America’ to be ‘America’.

Where the democrat party goes now? - really does hinge on whether most democrats still consider themselves patriots and America-lovers, and supporters of the constitution and America’s great history and traditions-or not.

Because those who are calling the shots for their party over the last 20 years have only been the loudest, most extreme, most bullying voices.

Does that change any time soon? Or is this the party of AOC, and BLM and antifa now?

Which is it?

Democrat leaders finally becoming aware that ‘democrats ruin everything’. That they can’t govern. They can’t keep their promises. Bigger government-is not-better government, etc.

This piece touches on something we have here, on this show, for years: how every city and state run by democrats today is insanely expensive to live in and entirely dysfunctional. With high crime, high taxes. And myriad promises ‘unkept’ be democrat leaders.

Every major US city...and most medium sized ones.... Seem to be a trainwreck right now...as the rest of the country is doing just fine.

Why is that?

It’s literally because ‘democrats are running those cities and today’s democrats ruin everything.

Period.

For heaven’s sake-it’s even starting to dawn on the PhD level dimwits over at the new yorker and the Atlantic.

Here’s yet another truth that they are missing since FDR, democrats have always been collectivists. They’ve always believed that a few smart people, atop government, should control the rest of us...and the bigger the government and the more the ‘government intervention’- the better.

The more traditional liberals- since FDR, thru Kennedy and LBJ, right thru to Bill Clinton...were all that collectivist mindset...but still believed in individual liberties and the greatness of the free marketplace and the greatness of this nation and individual achievement, etc....

But not anymore. Today’s democrats do not value those things, anymore.  It’s how traditional liberalism turned into socialist progressivism-

And I’ll only use that term to differentiate between full blown socialism-which more and more Americans seem to believe in.

Let’s not assume that the ‘righteousness’ of our positions on the right are going to be enough to convince today’s young Americans-and future generations of Americans- to ‘stay the course’. To keep valuing freedom and independence and individual liberties, etc.

We have failed, miserably, as Americans over the last 40 years, to engrain the importance of those things into our children.

Our schools have stopped teaching ‘American values’ as being the ‘superior’ values around the globe...and as compared to most. But they are.

And those values-and the various fights and terrible wars to maintain them.... are so vital to America’s future, still. And to the globe’s future, still-

That-on this day after Memorial Day- it’s a good time for a reminder that we need a serious ‘reset’ on patriotism and democratic and patriotic values in this country...

And yes, President Trump and JD Vance appear to be touching this off. Drawing in young people...and people from all races and classes...but it needs to be nurtured.
