Jay Weber Show transcript 4-14-25
(Open with the winning music)
Yep- time for a winning segment-where-in I point out some of the winning that president trump and the republicans are doing on behalf of the country that the leftist media either won’t report- or insists on reporting ‘incorrectly’....
Let’s start with a few big wins related to our homes and appliances.
This first one is a ‘GOP win’. US senators, using the congressional review act-which allows them to erase any ‘last minute’ policy that they want to that the Biden regime tried to ram into place as they left- and with a simple majority vote. Not subject to senate filibuster-
Gop senators used it last week to repeal Joe Biden’s ban on gas water heaters. Thank God.
Trump’s executive branch could have also repealed these regulations...but it would have taken a longer, far more laborious process. Repealing a regulation can take months or years.
This way-a vote in congress can snuff it out immediately and it’s something off trump’s plate.
So-gas stoves and gas water heaters are protected. Those are bigger wins than most Americans know.

Next win: you also probably heard that trump killed off the Obama and Biden era mandates on ‘low flow shower heads’.... too.
I agree. Having a president who listens to the American people- currently? - is a huge win.

I’m also going to count this as a ‘win’ today: president Trump basically ‘winning over’ liberal tv show host Bill Maher.
You probably know that kid rock set up a dinner with himself, Maher, and president Trump...to prove to both Maher and Trump that both are ‘decent people’, basically, and we can bridge political divides...
And good for kid rock for doing it-
Well- on Friday night’s HBO show- Maher gave what he called his ‘book report’ on dinner....and he came away impressed.
Which doesn’t surprise me because before Donald Trump got into politics...back when he was just a famously rich New Yorker.... Everyone seemed to love trump. He had all sorts of friends from all walks of life and from both sides of the political aisle. He was living a life in which-basically- he wanted to meet all sorts of interesting people and make personal and business connections that the rest of us would never dream of-
And so-genuinely-Trump tower was a constant flow of businesspeople, rappers, pro and college athletes, movie and tv stars. Gay, straight, whatever-
I know young liberals won’t believe this because it was before their time, but genuinely.Trump made friend and allies of ‘whoever’ found interesting. And he had great spectrums of friendships. Never seemed to see color or race or gender.
He wasn’t vilified as a racist, sexist, hater nazi until he decided to run for president. And so, it doesn’t surprise me that Maher found him an interesting and genuine and engaging person.
Well-
This. Is the person who Bill Maher had dinner with last week.
Folks- that! -is the Donald Trump that i have ‘heard about’ behind the scenes for a decade, now. And to me-it helps explain why so many people who have worked for trump and/or know trump- worship-Trump.
I never understood that until he ran for office: why do people even ‘like’ this guy much less worship the guy?
Especially people who had worked for him. They always insisted-no, you’ve got him wrong. He -is- something special.
And i have never met Donald Trump personally. I’ve only had one occasion to do so- and it was when he was running for his first term, and I was basically ‘summoned’ to drive to Racine on something like a ‘Tuesday night’ because he was doing a rally and told some minion ‘Get him here’.
Well, sorry, Jay, don’t play that’. And I don’t care who is doing the summoning.
But if you remember, the backdrop to that was ‘Wisconsin wasted Cruz country’...and the heated primary was concluding. And i was supporting ted Cruz-
And so, a ‘get weber down here, I’d like to talk to him’ didn’t sit well with me. It probably would have been a lovely, cordial conversation, but against that backdrop-it felt like I was being summoned.
Sorry. I’m not going to leap through hoops for anyone.
But this is sincere. This next part is -absolutely accurate and sincere: based on numerous conversations i have had with a few people who i know and respect- and who have spent significant time with Donald Trump...or been in the same room with him during ‘backroom’ or private conversations- to a person. To a person- they say, he's not the person you see on tv.
He's very engaging and gracious and interested. He’s genuinely a ‘high level’ thinker. He wants to gather perspectives and opinions and look at every angle. He’s funny and genuine and not at all arrogant.
I’ve heard this repeatedly from people over the last decade: you’d love Donald Trump in person.
And no- none of them can really tell you why Trump feels the need to ‘lash out’ at certain people or lash out on social media. No one can explain why he has intentionally cultivated this ‘less cordial, more forceful and arrogant’ public persona.
But they will all say: Trump in person is a ‘different person’ and is incredibly interesting and appealing.
And so, I am not surprised that that’s Bill Maher’s impression, as well.
And after years and years and years of hearing the same thing: you’ve got to be a dope not to believe it: there really is ‘something special’ about Donald Trump.
Just as there was with Ronald Reagan: we never think of ourselves living in a time of ‘towering historical figures’.... like Lincoln or FDR. Flat out: I’m now convinced that Donald Trump will be a significant historical figure to future generations. At least akin to JFK and Reagan.
