Donald Trump needs to voice his support for- and put a priority on- codifying all these Doge cuts and reforms into law.
He and Musk’s team need to send a list to congress of changes that need to be made to make this ‘top down’ review and reform of our federal government- stick. Make it permanent.
By having congress act on most of it.
Any cuts can be done thru a so-called ‘recission’ package that doesn’t even need a single democrat vote to pass- so long as the GOP caucus members stick together.
Imagine: we can bake a lot of doge’s cuts -permanently-into the pie- making it far harder, if not impossible, for the next democrat president and congress to reverse-
We can do it all without a single democrat vote-and no filibuster wall to have to ‘clear’ in the senate-
And so far? Aside from a few republican congressmen like Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul and John Kennedy? There doesn’t seem to be any real interest or ‘action’.
John Kennedy is that Louisiana senator who talks in colorful ways.... like... Chuck Schumer is about as popular as chlamydia right now.... Or.... I’ll take two ticks on a blood hound before I’ll take Joe Biden seriously... Or whatever...
You know who I mean. He said yesterday that he went directly to Trump and pitched this idea to him in a 30-minute phone call Monday: we need to codify these cuts in a budgetary recission package.
So don’t hold your breath.
I find the inaction here- silly. It’s a combination of some republicans not wanting their own secret ‘special’ funding being cut, i suppose- along with others who only ever want to reject the ‘win’in favor of the ‘overwhelming victory’.
Some senators want even deeper cuts.
Fine. But it doesn’t hurt to pass these cuts. Lock them in and then chase the deeper cuts, too.
Doge’s efforts cannot be allowed to -ultimately-be ignored or fall by the wayside. Not when trump and musk’s teams are doing so much good work.
On Monday-Trump held yet another cabinet meeting- and part of it was in front of the cameras.
This is trump’s third cabinet meeting in just two months-whereas Joe Biden only held, eight? I believe- during his entire four years in office. And, of course, Jill was sitting at the head of at least one or two of them.
But- during this cabinet meeting- Trump had his cabinet members highlight just some of the cutting and reforming that they have done.
His ag secretary, Brooke Rollins, had a great list of nonsense that she and her team has blocked-and clawed back. She said Biden’s regime was funding literally hundreds of left-wing programs and grants that were complete nonsense.
I don’t know.
Do we want to cut ‘all’? Of the additional education for queer and transgender farmers?
That sounds like something they might need: have you ever tried to till a field in a
G-string and stiletto heels?
Do they know how to keep their feather boas away from the thresher...or they could get pulled in?
Do they know that a latex girdle is like a death wrap in the summer heat?
I don’t know...i don’t think we want to cut-all of the funding-for queer and transgender farmers.
I am betting that not a single person within the Biden administration or the USDA bureaucracy could explain what that funding was going to.
I’d be great to hear what sort of nonsense they came up with- to try to justify it: well, there’s a real lack of...of.... queer, gay, and non-binary farmers....and of the few there are.... ah...there’s no...social justice? For them? And so...this money is about ‘food justice’ and ‘food equality’?
Food equality: is that like-all bananas are equal? Or is steak equal to sausage? Or don’t discriminate against the heirloom fruits? Or what?
Uhm. I don’t really know...but. It’s about ‘food justice’...so....
Not a single person in the govt would tell you what those hundreds of grants were funding.Because what they were really funding is ‘drag shows’ and ‘transgender comic books and other left-wing indoctrination.
Also, at this cabinet meeting-trump’s head of the EPA- Lee Zeldin- confirmed that ‘baby cakes’ Abrams and the other grifters who were supposed to get secret payoffs as Biden left office-have had that money blocked.
That is fantastic. And when trump was asked by a reporter whether the American people supported all of this- he said- i have no idea how it plays out in the public-but it’s something that has to be done.
That is the-correct answer- my friends.
But the polls show that these efforts- are-popular, even as the democrats do their level best to destroy Elon Musk and Tesla- as the target of their fury.
Yes- polls show Elon Musk isn’t the most popular person in America, now. But Trump’s approval ratings have never been higher-and the public confirms- by 2/3 margins or better-that they support trump’s reforms and want to see them work.
Greg- tee up Harry Enten of CNN- who said again yesterday- on the set of CNN- we need a reality check, here: trump has the American people more optimistic about the direction of the country than they have been in 20 years.
These reforms-are- popular...and if they follow through and finalize nearly all of them- and the effects can be seen by June of next year and heading into the fall elections-
We might have a shockingly popular republican party for a mid-term election that history suggests democrats should dominate.
Especially when the democrat party is so staggeringly unpopular right now.
If they won’t abandon their idiotic, anti-America agenda...and trump and republicans manage to implement theirs and surprise the country with successes-
Next fall could be a historically good showing for republicans- dealing today’s clueless democrats yet another blow.
