Yesterday, in passing, I talked about a Politico piece that wanted to characterize Trump’s speech as ‘divisive’ and only satisfying his Maga base.
This was just red-meat for Maga and it ignored the 75-million Americans who didn’t vote for Trump, was the claim.
And I asked: what are they talking about?
We had two polls taken after the speech that showed between 70 and 75 percent of viewers loved what they heard-and said trump talked about the issues they cared about.
Sixty-eight percent said the speech left them feeling ‘hopeful’. 54 percent said the speech left them ‘feeling proud’. Only sixteen percent of viewers said it left them feeling ‘angry’.
Those are not the poll results of a speech that ‘only spoke’ to 40 or 50 percent of the country.
Moreover-we’ve had a small flood of polls taken over the last three weeks-and they are proving over, and over, and over, and over again-70 to 80 percent of the American people are ‘with Trump’ when it comes to his most important agenda items.
Any attempt to say otherwise is an example of east coast elites and DC democrats being in a deep state of denial.
And if you are a pollster, yourself! There should be no excuse other than your own bias-if you find yourself ‘shocked’ that most voters support trump’s efforts.
Listen to Harry Enten- the data guy for CNN. Overall, i like harry and think he does an honest job-
But listen to some of the findings of the CNN poll taken after trump’s speech. Their numbers weren’t quite as overwhelming as CBS’s findings were-in Trump’s favor.
But Harry Enten-should not! - be shocked to find that Americans approve of the doge effort to cut wasteful government.
That’s a pollster who only finds himself ‘bewildered’ at what has been obvious to the rest of us for weeks- because he’s living too deeply and comfortably in the left wing, east coast bubble.
Enten-cannot be shocked at those findings if he’s been paying any attention to other pollsters and really doing his job for CNN.
And CNN’s numbers are lower because they asked the questions in a goofy manner: straight up- do you want to see waste and fraud identified and removed from government. 70 to 77 percent support.
Straight up: do you support the doge effort being headed by Elon Musk? 60 to 65 percent support.In numerous polls. For weeks.
CNN’s numbers are low.
And given what musk’s effort has just revealed-so far- in the way of corruption and dems stealing from taxpayers and intentionally wasteful spending- for the life of me- I can’t understand why-anyone-would be against this effort- if they weren’t a part of the grift and theft.
And those in Washington who are objecting to the loudest-are- of course. Liz warren, Bernie, Maxine Waters, Hillary and Chelsea, baby cakes Abrams, and others.
Wednesday, in a story that was completely ignored by the rest of the media-EPA head lee Zeldin detailed for the Washington free beacon- a 20-million-dollar govt grant that Joe Biden’s EPA gave a social justice group calling themselves ‘democracy green’.
Democracy green.
The 20 million was stolen from taxpayers and shoveled to this ‘social justice’ group in December-right before Biden left office-and at a time in which Biden insiders admit- they were trying to shovel as much money out the door as they could- before Trump took over-
This green’ group gets this 20-million-dollar grant to -quote ‘restore wetlands and remove lead pipes from hundreds of homes’.
Okay-but let’s check our notes: what does ‘democracy green’ do?
Social justice. Right?
Lee Zeldin’s team looked at this more closely-and found that this group has-never- done a single project related to restoring wetlands and replacing lead pipes.
And why would they have? Ever?
Quote ‘democracy green has never conducted wetlands restoration or lead pipe removals at any scale.’
So, why did they get 20-mil in tax money?
Moreover- the wash free beacon says ‘democracy green’ only has seven staff members: an executive director, two coordinators, and four ‘fellows.
So- who, among them, is going to be wading into swamp lands or digging up lead pipes?
How is this-not? -simply white-collar theft?
And why can’t everyone who helped orchestrate this theft- including Joe Biden- be sitting in federal prison right now?
But if nothing else- by God- how in the hell can we stop this sort of corruption if we don’t know about it!!
The doge effort isn’t just ‘a positive’. It’s a massive and essential exercise that has been long, long, long overdue in Washington DC.
And yes, we’ve seen a few instances in which musk’s investigators have made a few mistakes- or misinterpreting something-but is that because doge’s biggest finding? Honest to God? Is it that our federal agencies are such a thicket of -intentional- mismanagement, and misdirection, and institutional ignorance that - Musk and his team -genuinely- folks-
They genuinely believe that the democrat appointees and their deep state accomplices in these agencies ‘set it up this way’ so that they could never been audited, and their layers of corruption could never be fully revealed.
Sincerely.
That’s what Elon Musk had to say just a few days ago: oh, this is all such an impossible mess that it’s got to be intentional. Yes.
It’s one reason that i, personally, don’t put a lot of stock in these meetings he had withhouse and senate republicans this week.Senate republicans asked him to ‘send them’ his desired budget cuts...as if ‘they’ll deal with it’.
Okay. Many of doge’s findings are going to have to be ‘acted on’ by congress. President trump can accomplish a lot of them thru exec order-but a lot of the others will require congressional action. So, it’s good to see GOP congressmen appear eager to cooperate.
But-
Some of their oxen and favorite projects are bound to get gored here, too, as doge does its job.
So let’s hope they have intestinal fortitude and the basic honesty and decency to follow through.
Musk met behind closed doors with both GOP
If these GOP leaders are motivated to act decisively and forcefully-in this moment- Musk and Doge should absolutely get them a list of cuts, changes, and reforms.
Lindsey graham and Rand Paul are not wrong when they say this effort needs to be fine-tuned and coordinated with congress and the Trump White House. Otherwise, much of this doesn’t get done.
Musk also admitted- in the house chamber-that his doge investigators are going to get ‘some stuff’ wrong. And they have. Initially misinterpreting data. Going too far in their assessments on staff cuts.
Remember- on the House side- it’s the house republicans who are being targeted by astro-turfers and Soros-funded activists at their town hall meetings. And so, some of them in the room said, dude- if we are going to be on the front lines taking heat for Doge’s actions-you’ve got to let us know more of what you are doing-and why.
This gets back to my ‘one’ criticism on what musk and trump need to do better: explain-why-they are doing what they are doing when they do it. Don’t let stuff linger out there to be mischaracterized by democrats.
for example-if you are sending out the mass email to workers because you think some of these federal employees are literally dead- or fake- with someone on the other end cashing their paychecks and getting their benefits-
Then say it. At least explain it to the department heads as you send out the email-rather than take 2-million federal employees by surprise and throw them into a panic.
